I’m surprised this topic hasn’t gotten more replies from the ladies.
I see the skeptics kind of crushed on this thread.
Off body carry is not only a legit discussion, but something WOMEN can relate too.
Women have unique problems with CCW that men do not. Hips are wider, torso is smaller, sometimes the extra ‘furniture’ can get in the way. Off body carry solves most of the those problems.
Yes, I see all the posts about ‘control of the weapon’ and ‘it can get taken from you’, but that is from the perspective of a man. Women carry purses, or clutches, or slingbags. Rarely, and I mean really rarely do I see a woman carrying concealed that doesn’t have her weapon mounted in a bag, fanny pack or purse. Women like to be stylish, and women’s clothing is not made with IWB or any other type of carry in mind. One thing about fanny packs. They literally scream CCW, especially for men.
My wife, 5’ 5” and 120 pounds wanted to carry, but holsters, and most firearms are not exactly girl-friendly. What I found for her was a backpack made by DAVAN that converted to a sling bag by zipping the shoulder strap together creating a steel cable to prevent having it cut off her person. The holster pouch can hold everything from a NAA .22 to a Desert Eagle in 44. Unfortunately, DAVAN doesn’t make this pack anymore. But, her Equalizer goes with her everywhere in this pack.
Jessie and James makes something similar and looks to be well made. The Peyton Sling Shoulder backpack the closest. Peyton Sling Shoulder Concealed Carry Backpack – JessieJames Handbags
It looks like a purse, carries like one, and looks to have good concealment.
The downside is always going to be the off-body carry and control of the firearm, But I believe, that is up to the carrier to decide what works best for them, and as always, practice, practice, practice is the word of the day.
Practice your situational awareness, practice how you carry, how you draw, presentation, where is your reload, all the things that should become second nature to your carry.
Stay safe.
