Antifa and other kinds of social justice thugs cannot be jailed according to the list.

I’m sorry, but that list is disgusting. Multiple forms of child abuse don’t need to be held or bailed out? Abuse of elderly, hate crimes, female genital mutilation… The longer I read the more disgusting the list gets.

Money laundering is support of terrorism is on the list… what is NYC thinking? I just don’t understand.

Thinking they are progressive and sophisticated, and are not Sodom and Gomorrah

Some if not of them are also being done in CA as well. and it is all because of PROGRESSIVE LIBERALS that have been elected. And I’ve also seen that other states that have elected PROGRESSIVE DA’s are doing it as well. And some if not all have or have STRONG backing and donations from GEORGE SOROS to get them to push his policies when they were elected. and sorry to say we’re seeing the results.

I truly don’t understand what is going to happen under the details in this list. I know that devil is in the details.
I always thought that Bail Reform was to serve the purpose of people that committed non violent or petty crimes with staying in jail for inordinate amounts of time. It is for their safety as well as enabling the system to keep truly violent offenders in jail longer.
You should not be setting jail for getting caught with a dime bag of pot.

The news articles I’ve come across seem to suggest it was related to bail requirements disproportionally affecting low income suspects allegedly involved in non-violent crimes… not for whether someone eventually goes to jail or not for said crimes upon determination of guilt.

In history, large scale release of criminals was usually done to foment public unrest and benefit the politicians who initiated the release, regardless of the cover story. Read about events following death of Stalin, for example.

At least murder isn’t on the list … yet.

I agree with Dawn, @Dawn the laundry list of crimes listed is like a perverts dream list. Good lord it’s like 5 consecutive lifetime prison sentences.

@MikeBKY. Key word. “Yet”
Only thing I see it’s going to keep lawyers busy for a long time

Maybe it’s a stretch, but I still wonder if this is in preparation for NYC protests leading up to and possibly following the 2020 election.

It’s my understanding that many non-profit groups that actively protest have a “bail fund” for protestors within the group. This might save them a TON of money… especially if they were ramping up collections for a POTUS contender.

If protests get out of hand, the police, courts, and jails might easily be overwhelmed… and possibly lead to even more protests. Therefore, this would also save the city a lot of money.

Additionally, with NY getting called out for shipping homeless to other states, this might offer an opportunity for suspects to leave the state after being caught. I think it almost funny that the list includes “bail jumping (multiple accounts)” as not requiring bail.
