NOTICE: Facebook And Google Indexing Your Firearm Serial Numbers

Not cool

I suspect Google can provide much more detailed information to the government than they allow to appear in user searches.

That’s an excellent point.

Latest news is that California is now implementing a digital stamp on each shell casing as it is fired.
The bolt will have the firing pin and a stamp imprint each time.
A bolt replaced without a registered stamp will be considered an illegal ghost gun.
This has been reported through various sources.

I know this was almost a year ago now but all you have to do is look up the clip of Google after the 2016 election to see what they’re doing as far as the search results go. There is also plenty of “coincidences” when you look at the timing of bans like what happened to Alex Jones. There is even recordings of them confirming that they work together on such things. While that might not trigger the 1984 part of your brain what should is the fact that Facebook (no matter how you want to feel about it) significantly affected the last two elections and if you went onto the site anytime around the national register to vote day (who comes up with these holidays?) you were probably shown a bunch of ads and articles about how it’s your responsibility to vote.

While I feel FB is one of the better social media sites when it comes to staying impartial all of them have done much more to conservatives to get them off the site and block their points of view for years now. FB’s and Twitter’s recent stance of banning the speech of “anyone” declaring victory in 2020 and the call of Kamala to ban firearms without constitutional reforms even joking openly about it on the stage to her now partner in running Biden.

No tin foil needed just research and observation, they don’t have to be in cahoots to be on the same team and stacking the deck. I highly recommend Veritas for more information and Tim Pool for standard news delivery without some kind of spin.

I swear even when I think Cali is trying to get back on the road to success they show they’ve learned nothing.

Besides being a gun enthusiast I’m an SEO - Search Engine Optimization, specialist.

The article is riddled with inaccuracies

re: It appears Google, with the help of Facebook…"

  1. Google and Facebook are mortal enemies and share nothing (Google has had a rocky relationship with Twitter for years).

  2. Facebook indexes nothing outside of Facebook thus Facebook would have no access to gun serial numbers.

  3. Google failed to find 4 serial numbers I entered.

Caveat - I have a friend in the repo business.

His truck has 8 cameras scanning license plates that get run through the national; repo database.

If he gets a hit he can shut of the engine of that vehicle with his laptop.

Yes, he wears body armor and carries.

So when Google and FB worked together on an “open data source” and “set out to work on an AI together” that’s just in my alternate reality?

When they then want to make all this data so much more portable…you know for “us” in all their benevolence, that’s just a hoax?

When they team up to “prevent the spread of COVID-19” that’s just me misremembering?

Oh, and these two companies hate each other so much they definitely wouldn’t “team up” to help us idiots with the 2020 election.

No offense, but this was a simple search on Duck Duck Go and has an example of them working together on an almost constant basis. I don’t know how many of these projects they completed (given the left’s ability to implode whenever the words “hard” and “work” are put together and given as an expectation) and quite frankly I want all of these companies to crash for how much B.S. they pull but you’ll have to forgive me in my alternate reality 2020 and not believing you when you say they share nothing.

let me put it differently, and to put the thing in perspective.

I have 16 years of Google data and 10 years of Facebook data and can unequivocally say Google and Facebook do not share customer data just like Amazon does not share data with Walmart

  • yes you’ll see cooperation for altruistic purposes like AMP and Schema between the 2 giants but sharing data like gun serial numbers is a nonsequitur.

License plate numbers are basically in the public domain

That’s the part that I find silly, I haven’t tried mine but they also aren’t on Social Media. I don’t understand why they would freely give what they could eventually sell to the Government or just cache. I only support the logic that they could, and that they’ve given me no reason to trust them to be Good Actors. Misguided maybe but at what point do you tell the crusaders to come home without punishment?

All I can say is this. Don’t post pictures of things you own into ANY social media. When possible use different account names and have at least 3 email addresses. Keep data separate between them. I worked in communications public and military. Meta data can only be gathered when it is supplied. I only use Linux and Android and never use chrome. And I don’t think I’m paranoid enough.
As to this story, Google et al.will collect anything they can find. Identifiable faces are top of the list.

@Adamant For what it’s worth Duck Duck Go seems to act like a VPN for me on my phone when I do go to look something up and a program tries to guess my location the results vary widely and it’s never even places I’ve been or searched recently.

My default go to on android is DDG and PaleMoon on Linux. But I didn’t want to get too techy. Duck duck go is certainly a good start!

DuckduckGo is the best for right now. They don’t log anything and is pretty secure. It’s all I use. It’s not as robust as google, yet, but it’s pretty great. No more target specific ads on my facebook or anything like that. I use Mozilla VPN and Ipvanish vpn as well.

They already have your name, type of weapons you own the minute you paid for them. That is of course if you purchased them legally from a licensed seller. Pretty sure if the government wants to take your guns they’ll find a way to subpoena the records. The cloak and dagger approach isn’t going to be they way it happens. Just sayin

This is why I stopped posting pics of my guns on social media. It would not surprise me at all if Facebook was archiving all of these pics along with the names of the people who posted them, to be turned over to authorities at a later time when the gun confiscations start.

When you do a search of say a new holister you put in all the info ,make, model ,caliber you search for cheap ammo ,say a range near you you order gun cleaning stuff on line they have your ip address also your search history big brother comes knocking at your door why are you looking up this info ,do you have a unregistered hand cannon in this caliber and by the way we are coming in to look to see if you have any other guns . when Orwells 1984 first came out ,people said that could never happen . Guess again. Big brother not only is watching but he knows what you are doing, and where. Just my 2 cents worth

These big tech companies are no doubt gathering whatever they think the government may want in exchange for the negotiations that are surely to come. Just look at what is happening in Australia.

I try and be cautious with what I post and say in public forums and such, but if everyone is overly paranoid about such things then the way I see it, if you applied for a CCW/CHL they already know you have firearms. Now they may not now exactly what you have, but your not applying for nothing. If someone is trying to be completely anonymous in this day and age, good luck. Your phone apps track you, computers track you, concealed permit? you own guns. You register to vote?, You may belong to the wrong party. I could go on and on. Try and mind what you put out for the world to see, but I believe you still have to live your life, just be cautious with what and how much you do.

Just MY opinion.
