@Randall318 the bill has been filed. it is not through committee yet, and its not signed into law by any of the states listed yet, but the bill is a real deal… @TexasEskimo’s link is correct.

So here’s the thing…
Second Amendment Preservation Act is state authority that holds both internal state law and enforcement of federal law to the constitutional standard… Given that virtually all states and the federal government have long since crossed the line on infringement, it is the BEST possible solution to drawing a line in the sand.
I think currently 5 states have some version of this in the works. This is the same law Missouri almost passed in 2014.
Given that this is an arduous process, and not guaranteed of passing in in any of those states, having an interstate pact that helps draw this same line is an excellent belt-and-suspenders move.
- none of these may pass, however all of them may
- any that pass are subject to legal challenge and may end up being decided in the supreme court
- SO WHAT? This is declaration at the STATE level that the states are taking 2A seriously and that is a definite line in the sand. That states are thinking not only “not in my house”, but also COALITION of states… That’s a BIGGER line in the sand. That is Notice Given.
The democrats are putting on a full court press for gun control in all states that are vulnerable, and introducing the same laws even in states where - today - they have no chance. They are building traction everywhere. Second amendment sanctuary counties, states working the SAPA law, and now this coalition is the reply to what’s being done on the Democrat Platform.
EVEN IF THESE FAIL, I think the effort is critically important. The democrat party has been playing this as a long game, bite by bite. The constitutional defense effort has to do the same. Swing for the fence, and if it falls short, swing again, and again, and again.

I’m just looking at this from an economic prospect. If it passed. Think of how many companies will relocate to those states, custom gun builders, start ups, ammo manufacturers, all businesses that deal with firearms in general. This would create a huge economic footprint.
Maybe my favorite forumgoer could even get her representative to call from Missouri to join then it would be a full 10%of our country.

I’ve already contacted my local reps with my thoughts about this bill and according to the response I got, they wanna keep their jobs as much as I want our 2A rights to be protected. Sure hope it goes that way…

I’m in GA. The response I got confirmed my particular reps are pro 2A and won’t be voting otherwise, and same for red flag legislation

Yep @Jane2 - that’s why a lot of us who haven’t been overly politically involved are getting very active now… Missouri has excellent gun laws, but the anti-gun folks are at it … over 60 Missouri bills proposed this year that have the word “firearm” in it. About 20 of those are very pro-2A, another 15 or so are neutral (that is, the “firearm” word is really incidental to the law), and the remaining ones are ALL very strongly ANTI-GUN or ANTI-2A. We need to be very active in preventing any further infringement, even if our state is good now.

I’ve never been really politically active myself. But when it comes to the Constitution of the United States, those are not just American rights, they’re God-given animal rights, and they form the foundation on which this country is built. When those basic human rights are threatened, it’s time to make your voice heard. Any politician (working for the people) who threatens our Constitutional rights is anti-Constitutional, and that’s anti-American, and threatens the Republic my ancestors fought for. We cannot let people into our public offices who don’t stand firmly for WE, THE PEOPLE and the right to LIFE, LIBERTY, AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. Liberty means to each, his own. We don’t all have to want the same things for our lives. It means that those who want guns can have them and those who don’t want them aren’t forced to have them, and each of those groups accepts as right, the choice of the other. If there was room in America for power-hungry Kings, we’d still be a part of England.
