I actually had a post made highlighting some of the most egregious examples of what are considered "good shows’, that are on Netflix and Amazon Prime, that I was going to post, but I didn’t post it because even editing it and making it just words, I still felt that it went to far and I didn’t want it to offend anyone. I mean, for me to find something disturbing and controversial enough to be “too much”. You have to go pretty extreme and you have no idea when it just pops up in a show.
Go watch this past season of “The Boys” on Amazon Prime. Or “Preacher” on Netflix. Those 2 companies are essentially immune to the market correcting forces of not watching the show.

I’ve watched a little of both those shows. As I said earlier, I stop watching shows that promote or display things that I find offensive.
Not wanting to turn this into a religious thing but as a Christian I have to follow certain rules. Those rules go against the things shown in those shows.

I guarantee you that if the ratings for those shows were under what was acceptable to the companies those shows would be cancelled. They need viewers just like every other channel. If people don’t watch a channel that channel can’t make money and it’s all about making money.

how far these folk’s have degenerated in real life we are seeing an
extension of their depravity now on film ( and trying real hard to make that
sickness ACCEPTABLE or another NEW NORMAL. It won’t and CAN’T be.

Life has taken a turn for the surreal , this stuff, eating bugs, Gender bending, etc.
Should not be accepted into the mainstream.
We really need to find our way back to REALITY , GOD and mutual respect of one another. This current crop of Politico’s have really done a number on our psyche
and really screwed up the last two generations royally . We have fallen away from Family and Parenting and the LAW so far it seems like it will take a Miracle to come back.
Sorry for the speech it seems everyday we sink further and further from Normalcy.

I’m not making it about Christians vs anything. I am disgusted about award winning shows that are wildly popular throwing in stuff that is so disgusting that it makes you wonder wtf is going on that the creators of these shows think it’s ok.
Netflix doesn’t care about viewership in the past few years they have cancelled numerous #1 shows that were good shows that a majority of their subscribers enjoyed. Shadow and Bone, The Warrior Nun, Locke and Key, etc they are immune to typical monetary market correcting behaviors because they have the backing of a company that manages $45 Trillion in assets. They could literally just set fire tol a Billion dollars a year and still make money.
Preacher Had Violence, Gore And MoreWhen it comes to shock value, Preacher had this in abundance. The premise itself is daring, combining God, vampires, and other supernatural occurrences to create a religiously based show that is pretty decidedly sacrilegious.Aug 28, 2024

My point is not about the crudity, or the pornographic nature of the scenes or the sacrilegious nature. I get it. I turn the channel.
The point that I am making is how the heck did we get to this point so freaking fast and get this low. That shows like this are being thought of as ok, let alone produced and become award winning shows.
Im not a prude, trust me.
But I am disgusted by where we are as a society. Plus these shows are not isolated incidences it’s becoming the new “normal”

I get what you’re saying. Again not wanting to bring religion into the conversation but it does fit the conversation. Jesus said paraphrasing: you must be filled with a spirit. That goes for countries, groups and people. If you don’t have the spirit of a just and righteous god then something else moves in. That something else doesn’t mean that it is good and righteous. An empty house gets filled, ask all the people that have had squatters move in while in vacation.
In short the leaders of the country have kicked god out. Now something else has moved in and it’s not a good something.

Possibly because for the last couple hundred years the human race has been removing/defeating/indemnifying against the natural controls which served to limit population growth. As a result the human population has risen at a faster pace and the survival rate/procreation rate for individuals with compromising traits has exploded.
No need for conspiracies, failures of government or religious institutions. We are, in some ways, reaping the consequences of progress.
