Delta Defense has come through for my criminal charge and waiting to see more success at the risk protection order hearing. I am a member for life.
However there is no coverage to help you pursue a civil rights lawsuit. I am looking for any help I can get for the suit. My only option so far is to file pro se in federal court. Can anyone give me a phone number for a civil rights attorney. I cannot afford an attorney for this suit but feel the violations are to numerous and egregious to let slip by. Even some guidance if I have to litigate this myself. I know state law well. I know nothing of federal law.
any advice guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated
DO NOT FILE FOR YOURSELF!!! It’s the fastest way to the death of a good case and potential counter-suits.
If you are looking for damages (especially if they are substantial) in a civil suit then you should be able to find an attorney that will represent you based on contingency. That means he will take and fund the case and get paid only if he wins and normally as a prearranged % of the award.
I’m assuming you are dealing with good criminal lawyers now. Ask THEM for recommendations then Call a few places and talk to attorneys in your area. All you need is one hungry pitbull looking to make a name for himself…
He said he will give me a recommendation after the risk protection order hearing but the problem I’ve been having so far is of the attorney I can find that says they do civil rights doesn’t do it or they won’t be involved in a lawsuit versus a law enforcement agency
Then I’d do some research on similar cases and see who the attorneys were and start there. The records are public and you can search cases using plain google.
I regret I do not know any one or a particular office. Not sure if your’e comfortable mentioning your city, county, or state, in case someone has a suggestion?
I do not know much about policies, however I’m curious, do you own a USCCA Delta policy? Do they have a civil lawsuit benefit if you are a defendant?
I’m referring to where you wrote:
"However there is no coverage to help you pursue a civil rights lawsuit."
Unless, I simply misunderstand what you shared.
Or, are you or are you proposing to be a “plaintiff” ?
I am in Lakeland, Polk County Florida. and yes I am going to be the plaintiff. And the lawyer i chose from the list of lawyers on the USCCA website, Was woefully unprepared for the RPO hearing. I got railroaded for several failures on his part. I would have been better representing myself.
