Hello neighbor, and fellow Tennessean.

Loving it here.

We’re loving it here as well. We retired and moved here because of the location and like-minded people. Yes, we’re north by northwest of Nashville but statistically if SHTF this is the type of area city dwellers will gravitate to. Since we’re not easily found it will take some time for the inevitable if SHTF. We will more than likely block the highway with armed guards and turn back those who don’t belong here. It’ll take some extra effort and people but I’m confident we won’t have to beg for assistance. Wink wink, nod, nod

I hear that. All our neighbors are tight nit good people we got several cops salted around, an EMS type, one next door neighbor is retired from MI state forensics psychiatric unit for the criminal correctional mentally ill, the other next door neighbor is a dispatcher for a law enforcement agency.

We have lived here for three years and had no issues, no known first responders to our subdivision.

All very pleasant, tranquil people here.

I had another response for you regarding my avatar but I’ll save it for a different day. I’m working from my phone right now so I can’t access the website securely. I am happy to hear you’re enjoying your neighborhood.
Be well. Be safe. God bless.

So mote it be.

I got an actual response to my message after the auto reply that just acknowledged my email: Here it is about a week later.

The Senator’s office can add me to their Pro-2A count of in favor correspondence received.

Being from Tennessee I suspect that is a the longer count list.

Sorry, the email letter won’t copy/paste, I had to take a screenshot:

It’s not dead, just in the long labor process of being born.

It may need a C-section (Cesarean delivery (C-section) is used to deliver a baby through surgical incisions made in the abdomen and uterus.

An act of Congress especially when not acting in harmony takes seaming forever to accomplish anything. It takes several go-arounds to get some bills passed.

Maybe after this latest election cycle we will have the necessary votes to overcome our detractors who are resisting all that is 2A.

Currently, I think that given the above, this might be our time to succeed passing a National Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act.

Giving us more states, places, spaces to Carry across more state lines w/o having to remove our EDC placed inaccessible to us in a locked portable gun safe, locked in our trunk until we have passed through any given state; or keeping it inaccessible if we are visiting that state.

Maybe if this passes sooner than later, more people will become gun owners or not be discouraged from buying guns and all the other after market products to support that, from ammunition, holsters, safes, and the whole market of add ons, if the were not discouraged by restrictions to our freedom to carry.

It’s one of many compelling reasons that I escaped NY for TN.

Look at and compare the two states gun and reciprocity laws.

NY only has counties issue their version of a CCW and upstate and downstate doesn’t even have reciprocity without each other’s endorsement for only 3-years, exorbitant fees, and orneriest restrictions, like on premises only at your home, or business, not in public. Step out doors and your EDC must be in a locker safe. Locked in your trunk inaccessible to you in your vehicle. They want to discourage gun ownership and carrying. Something for interstate travelers, you must not stop over at a hotel, you must drive through or be arrested. Why I only had a shotgun for home defense. They issue very few true “unrestricted” CCW. Like Senator Chuck Schumer has one of the few, not us mere mortals. Why pay exorbitant fees for a 3-year permit that they call a license and not even be able to protect yourself in public or cross some county lines.

By contrast TN is a shall issue state, the state issues all permits for 8-years for reasonable fees and you can carry everywhere with the few exceptions that exist in every state, like schools, courts, jails, etc.

County to county, accessible in you car.

Big world of difference right there.

NY has NO reciprocity with and does NOT recognize any other state.

Whereas, TN recognizes and honors 48 other states, yes Y’all can come visit us with your EDC.

And, sometimes else NY doesn’t have that TN does as of July 1, 2021 their version of “Constitutional” Permit-less Carry open or concealed long as you meet their criteria of not being a prohibited :no_entry_sign: person of lawful age =/>18, lawfully present in the US, a Citizen, and not a criminal, fugitive, felon, no DUI, order of protection, history of domestic violence or stalking that type of thing.

I am fully qualified to own, and possess, in any lawfully present place, any legal firearm.

Compared to NY that is magnificent. I am not restricted to my home and the end of my driveway.

And, 36 other states honor TN permits with more coming onboard.

All 50 stares plus our territories would be fantastic.

Just think if your buck list included visiting all 50 states and / or cruising our islands like P.R. or the American Virgin Islands, etc, and you could stay strapped, not concerned with worrying about your legality except for abiding be each jurisdiction’s specific laws.

Like you do in your home state; like not consuming alcohol while carrying, or entering the usual prohibited places, etc. whatever the locals have to comply with, wherever you go, so do you.

Welcome to the community! Hopefully this bill passes.

In response to this thread…I’d like to share with you the letter i received in response to my letter encouraging support of a nationwide recognition…

Dear Mr. **************:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about the Second Amendment. I appreciate hearing from you.

Like you, I am a strong advocate of protecting and promoting our Second Amendment rights. The Second Amendment provides constitutional protections for the right to bear arms for all law-abiding citizens, whether for self-defense, hunting, or recreation. The fact remains that the Second Amendment protects the fundamental rights of law-abiding citizens – which cannot be unduly stripped away.

This Congress, I am an original cosponsor of the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. If enacted, this legislation would amend the federal criminal code to allow individuals who possess valid concealed carry permits in their home state to conceal carry in other states that permit residents to carry a concealed firearm – in accordance with the restrictions of that state.

I am proud to have an extensive record of defending and preserving the Second Amendment. From actively fighting the Biden Administration’s efforts to implement unconstitutional gun control policies to my time as Speaker of the North Carolina House of Representatives, I have always sought to defend the rights of law-abiding gun owners.

Please know that I will continue to support legislation to preserve our Second Amendment rights, and oppose legislation preventing law-abiding Americans from responsibly exercising their rights. Should legislation regarding the Second Amendment come before the committee or full Senate, I will certainly keep your views in mind.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me. Please do not hesitate to contact me again about other important issues.

Sincerely,

T. Tillis

I just have a problem with a federal law that will allow state or city laws to determine what CC will be. Chicago, California counties and cities, New York, NY City will not be any easier to carry in and will probably result in many more prosecutions of travelers and vacationers even though they have reciprocity. I already don’t want to live in places like that and I do everything I can not to drive through them.

I just think there are too many added rules in too many places and if a federal reciprocity should be passed it should have rules that the state cannot basically abolish with there own rules. In that case I think the feds should allow concealed carry according to the least restrictive laws in the US, which is not likely. Not to mention the fact that federal law can be changed according to the administration in power at the time. The leftist states don’t pay a whole lot of attention to the 2nd amendment what do they care about a federal law?

What it will be is legal as opposed to illegal for nonresidents

That’s what these bills are all about.

Getting back to the basic intent of the 2A RTKBAs.

Not a hodgepodge of vastly different states’ infringements on 2A.

Yea, but like I said, state, county, and city laws can be different in a lot of the more liberal states. I may have to change my carry from city to city or county to county in a single state. It doesn’t make it any easier to carry across country. In North Carolina the state controls all laws concerning CC. No city or county is allowed to make additional rules so at least when you enter the state, that’s all you have to know. I don’t want to carry an encyclopedia of laws with me just to be allowed in a state or county, or city. I’m just not in any way sure it will will be a good thing. If you don’t want the federal law to apply, the state can change their laws to make it so restrictive that it is practically not allowed.

TN and NC are the same in that respect. As it should be everywhere.
