My Home Town Knocks One Out of The Park SMH

If everyone was that nonchalant about it, I would be incredibly happy. Unfortunately, there’s a vocal minority against, and social media has a tendency to amplify the bad while not reporting at all on the positive.

Sounds like your gaybors (I honestly think that’s hilarious) were nice folks. And I tend to agree with them about Pride parades. I have participated in parades, but only as a member of a performing arts organization I’m a member of to advertise our performances, but I tend to stay fully clothed. I agree that a lot, not all, but a lot of what happens at those parades is just embarrassing for us as a community.

Unfortunately it’s also true that a lot of us have a tendency to get loud and visible when they perceive a threat to rights or safety, and most of them don’t look beyond surface level about whatever they’re mad about.

I myself have often been subjected to scorn by the community because of my 2a support. Fortunately, that is changing, and pretty rapidly. I don’t really love the reasons the community is rapidly moving toward embracing firearms, but I like that it’s happening.

As far as telling or forcing you to support our cause…

I guess I’m not even clear on what you believe our cause is, but I have no desire to tell or force anyone to support anything, whether it’s about my community or not.

Most of us don’t want to force anybody to do anything. What we do want is to be held to the same standards as everyone else.

So, I get what you’re saying, but it’s a complex issue that involves a lot of aspects of social interaction.

There ARE a lot of things that are absolutely normalized for opposite sex couples that, if done by same-sex couples, are classified as throwing a lifestyle in people’s faces.

I have been assaulted both verbally and physically more than once for the simple act of holding my ex-husband’s hand in public. That’s part of why I carry.

I think we all have those concerns for one reason or another. In a perfect world we wouldn’t have to fight for our rights. Unfortunately we don’t live in a perfect world. I love everyone because I want to be loved by everyone. I keep trying that is all I can do.

Just in case your wondering if Big Brother is watching…

"Farmington police said that they were informed a truck identified as Rogers’ vehicle through a license plate-reader system had pulled up to the mayor’s “place of work.”

A Farmington man was arrested Tuesday after police say he made online threats against Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall

If the threat said,
:eight::six: Mendenhall”
the man can simply say it was his wife who wrote it.
See Comey, James.

Sounds like the firearm community!

In all honesty, I have a slew of gay/lesbian coworkers and friends. And yes, a couple of them are somewhat flamboyant, most all of them are just normal people who just want to love who they love.

As to the flag thing, the state had a flag that meant something through history. And while I’m sure there were probably some important characters who were gay, they likely just wanted to be left alone to play their part without sexuality being a component.

Leave religion and sexuality out of government, neither have a place there IMO.

Completely agree.

Unfortunately, in reality, both are far too involved.
