I don’t see how it is any different than doing a double tap other than the second tap is a release.

This is why I personally have no interest in these binary triggers. I like to pull the trigger when I want to fire and release the trigger when I want to stop firing. If during the firing process you decide that one bullet down range was enough it is rather difficult to keep the second one from following, especially in a stressful situation.
The forced reset triggers seem like a better idea to me. Not sure if this new law bans those as well?

So I’m out here proving/disproving my prior one word statement. My first shots, 50 yards offhand were lousy follow ups. I got acclimated (it was snowing), put more tension on the foregrip and got this. 14.5, 50/75 yards offhand . Got to focus. Switching to my suppressed Stribog now, cold front coming in, may not be shooting for a couple weeks.

I recall back in the mid to late 80’s when I was stationed at Cannon AFB, in Clovis, NM, a friend of mine bought an AK from the local FFL dealer, gunsmith, armorer, motorcycle mechanic/dealer, tattoo parlor owner. I think his name was Tank. I do recall he was a large fellow.
Anyhoo, this little AK my buddy bought was dirt cheap. Like $100 brand new cheap. It was stamped “AK-84” and was very similar in construction to a genuine AK-47. The biggest difference being it looked like it was built by a 10-year-old kid in his dad’s garage. The rear cover was about as thick as a soda can, the springs looked like they were twisted out of coat hangers…VERY low quality. It shot pretty good though.
The thing about this particular weapon which relates to the subject matter is that it had a binary trigger. I don’t think the manufacturer even knew or cared. 1 bullet with the pull of the trigger and 1 bullet with the release of the trigger. Every time.
After 3 boxes of rounds, the cover popped off and all the guts fell out.
My buddy took it back to Tank to get a warranty. Tank laughed at him. What they agreed to was rebuilding the weapon with AK-47 parts from a reputable dealer. A couple hundred bucks in parts and some labor for Tank, and the weapon was back in commission, only no binary trigger. Straight up semi-auto.
I lost track of him and the AK after I was shipped back over to Jolly Old England. Rumor was he divorced his “Villager Bicycle” wife and moved to Florida. Probably a good move for him.

My story starts with one of the guns my son left behind. Daniel Defense AR-15, caked in crud, I’d seen him using it in some training videos with John Lovell. Anyways, I cleaned it up and took it out once or twice. A couple months ago I took it out, must have hit the selector twice without noticing and POP POP…what the hey…try it again and POP POP…now I notice the selector. The initial surprise got my addictive trait going and I order two more binary triggers (got 9 AR’s). Put one in my 14.5 and one is going to my TN buddy who most of ya’ll remember, next time we get together to wax philosophical and mess around with guns.

The problem for me is that I am conditioned to first take my finger off the trigger when I am no longer ready to shoot. It would take a lot of extra practice for me to reliably remember to switch on the safety before releasing the trigger, especially when in the middle of a stressful situation since all my other firearms don’t require this extra step.

Well, maybe you could default to semi in case of a stressful situation and save binary for grins and giggles, or to check on how steady you hold your gun. This offers an option that’s not mandatory. It’s really not that difficult, and I find it mentally healthy learning new things.
