Serious question here. I used to religiously wear red on Friday. These days I usually don’t, not because I do not support those that are deployed, but more along the lines of asking myself if this isn’t just a form of conservative virtue signaling?

Understandable. I have a son that is deployed, so for me it means something.

Wearing anything to support your cause, or flying any flag in the same effort is in and of itself “virtue signaling”

I fly my American flag at all times…. Same with many other homes in the neighborhood. (Gonna guess 20-30% of homes actively fly flags here)

Down the block however, another home flys the American flag inverted, and next to it they fly a Ukrainian flag…..

I know which houses I will find safe harbor in, and I know where I will not be welcomed.

To some end it’s comforting to see people subtly supporting one cause or another (wearing red on Friday)

We don’t all have to march in the streets and directly participate in violence to signal what we stand for.

I loathe to think of the day when that is the case.

Follow up question. Why would we classify this as conservative, simply because military support is generally a conservative value? I ask as I know many folks from all political affiliantions and those that don’t follow any and they firmly support our troops both domestic and abroad.

Does that make them closet conservatives?

My own experiences tell me that conservatives support the military and liberals do not. I’ve experienced hostility from liberals when asked if a business offers military/veteran discounts.

That is unfortunate and in my opinion disgraceful. Even though I didn’t take part in that hostility, I’m sorry you as a Vet had to go through that garbage as it is undeserving and not necessary. If they dislike our military, then they can get the F:face_with_symbols_on_mouth: out of our country.

If it were me and I was a customer in line and heard that transpire, I guarantee I would have said something and simply walked out as they don’t deserve my business.

Supporting the military is not just a conservative thing. Grand Rapids MI is at best purple and most folks and companies support the military, many dont vote the way I do.

They may not support the current actions but they do support the men and women in uniform

I don’t own a business, but if I ever saw that happen I certainly wouldn’t ever patronize them again!
