I must be a whippersnapper. I can’t remember what I did yesterday.
Given some of the stuff we did “back in the day” it’s a miracle I lived to make it to 6th grade.
#25 Ice boxes not refrigerators.
#26 DC electricity. Had to put quarters in the meter.
#27 Washboards.
#28 Formations of B17 bombers.
#29 Rationing.
#30 Dad was in the South Pacific.
#31 Rexall Drug Store
#32 Sprouse-Reitz
#33 Filler er up and check the oil?
I still get BlackJack when we go to Cracker Barrel. I remember all of them, but we used Brylcreem instead of Butch Wax.
“A Little Dab Will Do Ya”
#34 The Wheel
For you youngsters, those products were for two different uses. Brylcream (A little dab’l do ya!) was a cream for controlling hair long enough to comb. Other hair creams and oils (like Kreml) competed with Brylcreem in that market.
Butch Wax, on the other hand was a heavy waxy gel (sort of like Vaseline petroleum jelly) used to keep your flattop standing straight up.
And yes, depending on my hair length of crewcut (no dressing), flattop (Butch Wax), or combed with part (Brylcreem or Kreml), I had used all three of those products. Kreml, however made my scalp itch.
