Jamey Carney, a 43-year-old American, had built a home for herself and her daughter in K!llarney, County Kerry, after moving from New York. On Tuesday she was found dโad inside that home following a violent attack. Gardai have upgraded the case to a full mโrder inquiry (RTE, Irish Times).
The man theyโre calling their ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ง ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ญ is in his twenties, originally from the Middle East, and had been dating Carney. Heโd been granted permission to remain in Ireland permanently. A witness reportedly heard an argument at her house the night she dโed.
He didnโt wait around to answer questions. Gardai say he caught an early bus from K!llarney to Dublin Airport and flew to Istanbul before Carneyโs body was even found. Irish police are now working with ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐จ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฅ on an international manhunt (Irish Times).
Carney had built an online following campaigning against U.S. immigration enforcement and for Palestinian rights. She left America to build a safer life abroad. Now Irish police are chasing a suspected k!ller across an international border he crossed without anyone stopping him.
