Man rolls up to police station with pickup truck full of torn up Flock cameras (Albuquerque, New Mecca) :mexico:

While most of the vandals ripping down automatic license plate readers prefer to go incognito, an Albuquerque character named Jevon Martinez isn’t afraid to show his face.

Weeks after Bernalillo county officials cancelled their contract with the controversial surveillance company Flock earlier this year, Martinez noticed the automatic license plate readers (ALPRs) were still up. In a series of videos posted on social media and flagged by KOB4, Martinez filmed himself tearing the camera towers down in order to return them to their rightful owners.

“Since [Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department] is busy — I know BCSO is busy, everyone who works for BCSO, I know you guys are busy, so I went ahead and helped you out,” Martinez says while driving his pickup truck, the bed of which is notably full of ALPR parts.

“We got a bunch of these bad boys,” he says in another video, showing off a truck bed stuffed to the brim with tower parts. “Let’s see how much I can get in one day. That’s gonna be the challenge for everyone out there.”

Playing the helpful citizen, Martinez drove his literal truckload of ALPR bits directly to the Sheriff’s department, where he was promptly taken into custody.

Though he wasn’t armed and hadn’t committed any violent offense, officers made a dramatic show of force as they arrested him. Clad with ballistic-resistant plate carriers, the deputies surrounded Martinez’s truck, drawing their guns and forcing him into cuffs.

“Is this a crime? I don’t think so,” Martinez said in one of his videos. “Neither does the public. I’m just liberating my people from tyranny.”

ME: While I applaud his enthusiasm my sphincter clinches when I read HE FIMED IT AND HIMSELF DOING THE CRIMES! Now we may not like these camera’s (along with millions of other decisions the .gov makes that make us pull our hair out!)----- But for the love of Mike Please don’t film yourself doing the bloody crimes! (even if it is 1984’s George Orwellian in nature).:upside_down_face: We reduce ourselves to the Crazy Blu hairs who destroy the Reflecting pool or spray paint a WW2 Monument. As for Mr. Martinez here his troubles have just started. Think of (even if miraculously the charges were dropped ‘All is forgiven go with God!’—It’ll never happen and ‘CHARGES’ never fully get wiped from the record) . It happened to me years ago and I was falsely charged cuffed up at my job and (after a lengthy investigation where I was dragged through the mud, lost my ‘Defense Contract Clearance’ did these geniuses figure out I was NEVER EVEN IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA ! EVER! Did they make me whole again? Are you kidding?. Did I sue their asses absolutely. Somebody once said THE RECORD is never fully deleted (even if they say they struck it from the record). This is also why I would happily accept that Infringement of a 7 day waiting period— My 4473 bounces around from Alphabet to Alphabet Agency,(last time it hit ‘Homeland’ twice!. I buy a firearm have some Donuts with the guys and go home, a couple of weeks later they give me a call to pick up my Iron. Stoopid. Did I ever get my Security clearance back? Yup! but it took a 2 Star General to intervene. Why he did that I’ll never know.

We Gunner’s (as I’ve said ad nauseum here) are the straightest shooters in every possible way in life. (My opinion only). The nature of the beast of being a Concealed Carrier is based on our honesty and Second Amendment RIGHTS being a crim like this guy will get you into a hassle you don’t want to be in. So please (for me  ). If you have an accident and your 4x4 slips on a Banana Peel and slides into a Flock Camera----- wear a Mask! Covid is back after all!  :joy:
