My P938 came with Siglite Night Sights. At my last range session I completely missed my target with the P938, but shot fairly well with 3 other pistols. I confirmed using a Strikeman laser cartridge that I can’t see these sights well in dim light. I consistently miss a target at ~10 feet by at least 8 inches. Turn the lights up and shooting is spot on. I attribute it to developing cataracts, but not bad enough for insurance to cover surgery yet.
I could possibly spend more time working with existing sights, but I prefer for equipment to work for me, not vice versa.
My search for Sig Sauer #6 front and #8 rear replacement sights has found:
· Sig Sauer X-Ray3 (night sights)
· Trijicon (night sights)
· Ameriglo (division of Trijicon)
· Truglo (night sights)
Ameriglo and Truglo have a couple I believe would work better for me, but I would prefer a classic bright white 3-dot set. I would even settle for a #8 front and #8 rear configuration.
Any suggestions?
Edit: I also confirmed shooting is good in dim lighting if I just draw and ignore sights
My wife asked me what was I doing on the computer today. I explained my delema and she cut to the chase PDQ. “You have other guns you still see the sights just fine?” … “Yes” … “Then carry one of them”
I looked at the Sig Sauer X-Ray3 sights on a P365 this morning. It’s better than the current P938 sights, but not overwhelmingly enough so. With that said, if I ever buy a striker fire for daily carry, it is the most impressive one I have dry fired. It might have found a new home today if it would have fit my P938 holster.
I purchased Ameriglo Protector Sights for Sig Sauer #6 Front with Orange outline / #8 Rear for a P938 thru Amazon. I immediately put the new front sight beside the old sight still installed in the slide and boy was I excited!
I pushed the old front sight out, cleaned the empty dovetail with alcohol and put a drop of oil in the dovetail slot. I lined the new front sight up and started pushing it in. I was disappointed in how one side of the sight tab was standing proud of the slide. I should have left it alone, but I tapped it with a brass punch. The sight tab broke off! I was then able to press the sight back out of the dovetail by hand.
So, of course I contacted Ameriglo via email and told them my sad story. I asked them if I could buy just the front sight replacement from them in hopes they might give me some kind of break. No go:
“Thank you for contacting AMERIGLO! Support.
I am sorry to hear that your sight broke. Yes feel free to go online to our website Ameriglo.com to view our sights and purchase online.”
I pressed the original sight back in this morning – no issues. I don’t think I’ll invest any more money into Ameriglo, nor Trijicon, their parent company. I am going to have to rethink about this … maybe focus more on fiber.
