SIL just bought a Bodyguard 2 and it wont function with JHP. 100% with FMJ. I dumped my 380’s a long time ago because of JHP problems. Inconsistent expansion along with jamming. I carried FMJ. I suggested he try Norma NXD ammo. 56 grain fluted bullet at considerably higher velocity with lower recoil. I carry NXD 65 grain 9mm in my Hellcat.

According to reviews on YouTube, the M&P 2.0 bodyguard 380 is very finicky when it comes to ammo.
It will shoot FMJ fine but when it comes to hollow points it can jam.

Would anyone consider a pocket pistol as a backup gun for the colder months.

Only in Summer, in Winter it is much easier to conceal a full-size.

Full size is better, due to coats and gloves. A pocket pistol is to cumbersome, (small to safely manage) especially in the cold and under stress when your finger dexterity is gone.

Certainly.
Per your point above; it took me awhile to find .380 defense ammo that work consistently with my BG2, but I did. I have no concern using it now as a pocket pistol and/or backup.
Further, I’m looking forward to validating defense ammo for my Ruger LCP MAX EHG as well.

That is great that you have them both. You can’t go wrong with either one. No problem with the EHG RUGER it would be a great back up gun. I love mine.

A .380 in a slimmed down shoulder holster (under arm style) could make a great winter backup under any type of light jacket or coat (I have recently seen ads for sport coats and light jackets with a built in holster). Likely more practical than in a pocket.

I’ve never been able to get comfortable using small framed pistols, I always felt I’d blow off a part of my hand trying to use one.

I should have mentioned that my addition of a Galloway Guide Rod assembly helped the BG 2.0 cycle improve tremendously.
