This is a surprise for my wife’s upcoming birthday, just picked it up so don’t tell her. ![]()
That’s is very nice! ![]()
Has she had carpal tunnel surgery yet? ![]()
LOL… I was surprised how weighted this piece is… Crossing fingers and toes it’s not too much for her to handle, but being .38 spl, might not be too bad. She handles her 9mm Rose well and has shot my HKP30L…
The only thing I’m disappointed with on my 502,…. Extremely long trigger pull and reset. ![]()
Are you running an optic?
I mounted the 407k that came with it and the elevation is bottoming out.
I am not, the only pistol optic I even have is the one mounted on my Echelon.
Go get a SCCY, you will love the trigger on the 502 after shooting the SCCY…..![]()
2.7.2026: First thoughts after a morning range trip.
I kept this outing relatively short. Went with 2 boxes of 50 rounds:
Herter’s Target .38 Special 130 Grain Handgun Ammo (800 fps)
Herter’s Target .357 Magnum 158 Grain Handgun Ammo (1235 fps)
25 yards out, basic silhouette target.
Kept is basic, wanted to get a feel for how the lever action worked since this was my first time shooting one, not counting the BB guns I had as a kid. The lever was, in my novice opinion, smooth and easy to operate. Went through about 25 rounds, no issues / hiccups. Recoil was barely noticeable, easily manageable. Switched to .357 and fired off about the same, 25 rounds. Recoil was more noticeable, I’d say similar to my SIG Tread M400 in 5.56. Still very manageable.
Now to suppress her… Switched back to .38s and this time, mounted the Omega 9k. Shot off the remainder of the box and loved every silent trigger pull. The lever action made more noise than the shot. Loaded up some .357s and fired a few down range, given the fps, I anticipated a bit more noise, but was pleasantly surprised. While not at church mouse quiet as the .38, the .357 wasn’t too bad. Finished off the box and was bummed I hadn’t brought more rounds to shoot. ![]()
I was wearing hearing protection throughout the shoot (range rules) so I couldn’t experiment while suppressed.
Overall, very happy with my purchase and love the way the Stealth Hunter 1854 handles. Going to give her a good cleaning and lube for the next outing. On a side note, did not clean her before my first outing, so factory oil / gunk still on.
If you’re on the fence with this one, I would push you over into the “purchase” side. Thank you for your time.

Looked that one up… DA only? I suck with DA guns
. So yeah, I’d hate that gun.
The 502s trigger isn’t a heavy DA action,… it’s just ridiculously looooonnnnnggg…. Squishy, no solid wall and disappointing break.
A better trigger in that gun and it would be an absolute hoot!
Broke this thing out again for some dry fire cycles…..
I apologize, it has a decent trigger,…. Around 1/8” take up to the wall, 6ish pounds pull to break,…
Then 1/4” of overdraw past the trigger break…..
You then have to release 100% of the trigger to reset which makes it feel sluggish and squishy to me during the firing cycle.
The SCCY has probably one of the worse triggers on this planet. If I want to shoot it tomorrow, I gotta start squeezing the trigger today.
They make a trigger kit for it but it costs as much as the gun. For the money, I could buy a glock off of gunbrokers for the same money.
The 502 has to be better
If you start squeezing the trigger today, you will only find the wall tomorrow… so you actually break the shot two days later… ![]()
EXACTLY!
You HAVE to let it fully out!
Yeah, but you don’t have to pull it all the way back!
It overdraws.
If the trigger stopped traveling just after release it would be decent.
Since it’s just for fun and not for CC. I’m good with it.
I shot one once and wondered why something that worked that bad was legal.
You need a new range bro. How are you supposed to practice defensive shooting if you need to wait 2 seconds between shots? “Wait, Mr. Bad Guy, I haven’t practiced follow up shots, so please stop approaching with that knife until 2 seconds have passed.”
