You know, I have had this question and discussed this very point with several family members. Some have commented here before, that I don’t ask questions that I don’t already know the answers to.
I think that’s something we should all think about. The one big takeaway that I have taken away with our news media, especially after that huge fine that was levied against Fox a few years sgo. Was how almost all of the News Anchors, Broadcasters, etc. reclassified themselves and the “news” as opinions and they are now pundits. I believe that they did this, so they could say their “opinions” no matter how defamatory, because it’s not being reported as the “news” but as opinions thus freeing them of libel and slander laws. Making their “opinions” protected speech under the protection of the 1st Amendment. That’s one of the 2 more widely utilized tactics now by our MSM.
However, there’s another power the media has. That is invoked by what question are “not” being asked. This happens so much that we get sidelined by the obvious stupid questions that do get asked that we are off in the weeds defending some completely ridiculous point, but we aren’t asking why is “x question” not being asked. Because that is what our media is supposed to be doing. Asking the uncomfortable questions.
Think about that for a moment. The true power is being able to control what questions are being asked. We have a small town down here near me. Way smaller than Springfield Ohio. That has had the same problems as Springfield has had. Housing is unaffordable now in that town because a couple of thousand illegal Haitian immigrants have been shipped here. The avg rent in that town was around $500 bucks a month, car insurance far below the national avg. police and emergency services response times were in a few minutes range. But avg. rent has risen to $1399 and car insurance has doubled. Emergency Services Response timed have increased from minutes to hours or even days.
So did this small town suddenly have a bunch of luxury homes added in or chic gentrification happen. Nope, “Uncle Sugar” started handing out rent subsidy checks of up to $1400 a month for rent subsidies, car sales exploded, “Uncle Sugar” handing out $5,000 car vouchers. Car insurance became far more expensive (roughly doubled,) Unemployment went up because the biggest employer laid off it’s crews but they are still operating at max capacity. That Co. posted one of its biggest profits this past Quarter, and their labor costs went down. Think about that for a second, they are still operating at max capacity, after laying off hundreds of semi skilled workers (an accounting term, not a commentary on quality of the employees). The common thread through all of it was these Haitians that were settled there.
The Haitians don’t speak the language, you can’t drive anywhere on the side of town they settled in, due to the dozens of wrecks that are happening daily. Emergency Response times rose because they are out on call for all of the wrecks.
They had a town hall, and I watched the live stream of it. I want all of you to know I can say with certainty. Their pets are safe, they aren’t eating their pets, no dogs or cats at least. That it is all because of good old racism. These “deplorable poors” are inflicting racism on these poor homeless Haitians because they are “black”. Funnily enough, the population of this town is a majority of African Americans. Weep for these poor Haitians.
As much power as there is in asking questions, and controlling the answers is an even greater power of not asking the right questions and bogging everyone down in asking the wrong questions.
Trump has to learn this lesson and stop letting MSM drag him down by rising to every stupid question they are asking. It’s a waste of his time and political capital.
