Curious what people think of the James Talarico interview. He isn’t sayting anything different here than what’s he’s said many times. Why was it so important for Trump to try and suppress his voice? Which backfired of course - average viewership of the late show is ~2.4 million people. This interview has been watched on YouTube more than 7.5 million times already.
Confirmed hoax.
It was CBS’ lawyers who suggested that they either do not air this show or offer equal time to other candidates, including Jasmine Crockett. Trump had nothing to do with it.
Colbert the coward being portrayed as a hero, FCC rebel.
People are so quick to judge and callout Trump they really should look into the subject before running their mouths. It was even said on CBS’s evening news that their lawyers said that they have to give all candidates equal time.
Products of the bubble that is the MSM.
No matter how many times you tell em, it’s your side that is misinformed! ![]()
As if he was important enough for the president to concern himself with! ![]()
As usual, you guys are getting a story filtered through MAGA news. The full story is the FCC initiated an enforcement action against ABC for its interview with James Talarico on “The View” alleging that ABC violated equal time rules. THat is what triggered NBC to pull the interview. The Trump administration is suppressing freedom of speech. Please do your research before telling me I am wrong.
So again, what is Talerico saying that is so dangerous for Trump and the movement that it needs to be suppressed? I haven’t heard anyone comment on what Talerico said in the interview - whether you agree of disagree?
So we should disregard the head of the FCC and instead believe your sources?
As far as what Talerico actually had to say, I DGAF. Why don’t you tell us what he had to say, since you are so hurt about it?
I wonder what CBS, The Late Show, and Colbert were so worried that Crockett would say that they outright refused to offer her equal time.
Edit: or maybe it was Jeffries, Schumer, the DNC…
Crockett has been on the show several times. There is no issue there. NBC simply caved to pressure from Trump. Again, do your research.
Jim, I understand that you want to blame Trump for everything that happens, that’s your prerogative. I also understand that you may not be familiar with the equal time rule, that’s ok too.
The equal time rule has been in place, with various iterations, since 1927. CBS’ lawyers advised The Late Show that if they ran the Talarico episode without offering Crockett, and whatever other democrat candidates there are, equal time that they could be in violation of the equal time rule. They decided, on their own, not to air the show.
Crockett has been on the show twice, you’re correct. She was on in December of 2024 and in May of 2025. Both of those were before she declared her candidacy in December of 2025. She was neither on nor offered an opportunity to be on as a candidate. Had CBS aired the Talarico episode without offering Crockett and the democrat candidates an opportunity, a FCC complaint could have been filed. Again, they could have aired the show, they, CBS, chose not to.
You and the left-wing media you consume can spin it all they want. This was not a mandate by the FCC, it wasn’t a decision Trump made or had anything to do with, it was CBS, Paramount and their lawyers.
A good effort, but he’s too far gone.
Sorry for the late rely, I don’t live on this forum like some others do…
The FCC announced an enforcement action against “The View” for its interview of Talerico a few days before, overturning a longstanding rule since 2006 that exempted talk shows like The View and late night talk shows from the equal time rule. This is why CBS lawyers pulled the show - because Trump, through the FCC, is trying to stop Talerico interviews. And further, even if the rule applied, Colbert doesn’t have to offer equal time to Crocket, Crocket must request equal time first, which she did not. It’s only a violation if the opposing candicate requests equal time and equal time is then denied. The CBS lawyers know how the rule works, but it doesn’t matter - CBS has caved to Trump several times since David Ellison took over. Trump doesn’t want Talerico to get any press and CBS, through Ellison, is a Trump ally. There is no question.
Why Talerico? Because polling shows he can win the Texas senate seat. Crocket also has favorable polling, but not as good. A democrat hasn’t won Texas senate since 1988. Texas turning blue is the death knell for the MAGA movement and they know it. And it must be stopped. Talerico is a existential threat for a second reason - he exposes the falicy of the “Christian” right movement.
This is not correct.
From the legislation:
“If any licensee shall permit any person who is a legally qualified candidate for any public office to use a broadcasting station, he shall afford equal opportunities to all other such candidates for that office…”
It is their duty to inform the other candidate(s) of their intentions to interview a candidate(s) and to offer each and all other candidates for the same position an opportunity of equal time.
Yes, the FCC did release guidance that indicated regularly scheduled talk programs that are subject to broadcaster control are required to abide by the equal time rule. That’s all shows meeting those requirements and for each political election meeting the requirement.
This was done on January 21, more than 3 weeks before there was, or was supposed to be, a Colbert interview of Talarico.
All that the Late Show/CBS needed to do was to offer Crockett (and whomever else is running) an opportunity to be on the show. They, through guidance from their own lawyers, could have chosen either to offer that time, not air the show, or air the show and hope for the best. They chose not to air the show.
