It's Your Land but Ask Permission $$ First

We used to call them Keggers, 50-100 people show up 5-6 kegs, 4x4’s and dirt bikes and the party was on. Sure things happened out there but we seem to have survived it just fine and so did the environment. But today, the BLM Cops stamp it out before it even starts, show up before anyone is even out there, stop anyone heading that direction, you didn’t pay the Permit Fee Comrade here’s your citation…

Must be GenZ “people” who don’t think they have to follow rules and/or laws, who think it’s absurded to get up before 10:30 am and go to a job, and expect taxpayers to pay for their collage tuition for liberal arts degrees that aren’t worth the toilet paper there printed on…Ok, I’m getting off my soapbox now…LOL

This is what part of todays problems are we did that crap all the time the local LE would show up check Ids and leave we survived and so did the places we did it at.

Times arent the same.

We all used to ride in the back of trucks or the back window of the family car. Generally, didnt kill us and most survived.

Used to eat dirt and jump our peddle bikes.

Now they say its bad

I will add that my brother did fall out of my dads truck back in 70’s. He ended up being a liberal…maybe something to their madness…

One thing that I can understand is the desire to know who is on the land doing what and understands the restrictions on things like fire, weapons, alcohol, etc.
Plus in the event of damage or accident, there is a point of contact.
So, I don’t have that big of an issue with being expected to pay a fee and insure that the particular area is likely going to be available.

It’s almost like we are have more rights taken away each and every day. I don’t get it. BLM is to manage the land. However, they are making just way too expensive. We pay taxes, then pay again to use what is ours. It just doesn’t make any sense to me. My family, parents and grandparents always camped out in the :cactus: desert. Heck I am 70 years old now and I am afraid my grandchildren and great grandchildren will never get to experience what I have been able to experience. Where we use to camp a lot of it is long term lease for solar farms. A lot of the rest is closed. People are being herded into controlled camp areas. To boot we just keep paying for it and we get less now than ever before. Nuff said this is just my humble opinion.

Welcome @Bill175, That’s exactly the point I was trying to make. Now we have to have a “Permit” to go out in the desert and have a party?

Why yes, it is public land, and the vast majority of the public don’t appreciate keggers, reefer growers, homeless encampments, plinkers, terrorists LARPing as militias, et. al., hauling their ■■■■ onto our land and leaving it about for the rest of us to clean up.

Welcome Bill
and Welcome back Michael to the Fold!
you guy’s are right where you’re suppose to be!

I SEE both sides of this equation actually (Surprised? close your mouths!)
YES they are 'Taking away our FREEDOMS to 'Plink, Camp, (4) wheel etc—Forcing us to PAY PAY PAY! for those activities. IF we actually saw IMPROVEMENTS, Saw where the Tax $'s, the Permit Fee’s went (instead of some ‘G’s’ pocket maybe it’s be worth it? Prolly not just being hopeful).
The ‘Damage’ they claim (BLM, .gov’s , Every Badge and Agency we really don’t need) I kinda see when unscrupulous people 'SELL TICKETS/SET UP EVENTS and don’t take precautions so these dumb as rocks kids don’t wind up in body bags!.
Out here in Cactus Junction I witness this damage every time I go out to shoot. Generally the wind blows most of the time and I see the trash fluttering in the weeds, on the Cactus, piles of human waste, Beer/booze bottles , Nature shot to pieces etc.
IF we could TRUST folk’s to NOT BE DICKS! that would be one thing. But as the generations get older it seems to me people are getting stupider. I’ve said this before I guess the Desert is to be respected not sh!t on. IF you intend to hold a ‘RAVE’ or event (Even an Organized Dirt bike rally PLAN FOR THE Crowds. A couple of Pot O Potties wouldn’t kill ya to make life a little easier on the Spectator’s (and the Desert)
Folk’s may drink alcohol or do drugs be mindful of that also. I’ve found (4) bodies in twenty years (Not counting the dozen or so Migrants) exploring my beautiful Desert (only One was an act of nature–or a lack of planning for the elements take your pick) The Desert is UNFORGIVING and It is truly sad to come upon a poor soul that is being feasted on by Vultures.
These 'Organizers take the money and run—leaving 'Burn Scars (as mentioned) Trash and other lovely sights and smells. Taking the money and running is CRIMINAL.
Even as a kid in the Concrete Jungle of NYC I was respectful when I went Upstate NY or our Vermont land to Ski, plink, Camp and have a blast! We indeed trucked out what we trucked in. Why can’t everybody be mindful of this and not crap on Mother Earth? Is the ‘G’ too heavy handed on Peaceful folk’s like you guy’s mentioned above YOU BETCHA! Do they want to Tax, Permit, Rain on our fun as much as they can? you double betcha! But I feel we DO need to STOP these crazy Raves and Illegal Parties that could get folk’s DEAD!.
Example, I came on a ‘Party’ site last year lot’s of Foot/Tire traffic, Beer/Booze bottles, crap (literally) and food debris…oh yeah a 'dead guy! laying away from the fire he may have wandered off and no one noticed? Hypothermia (and alcohol) is a deadly combo. He looked BAD man. All sorts of critters feasted on him and Mother Nature did the rest. If everyone respected the Land maybe the ‘G’ would lay off? But they are so addicted to Over Rule and Over Regulation maybe that’s not possible anymore?.
Illegal Migrants are the new food of choice around here. Why aren’t the Cops sweeping these people up instead of filling their body bags with their remains?
Makes no sense sometimes.

There you go, being all reasonable and practical again. I bristle every time I hear of another Government Permit, Another Government Fee, another Government Control. Maybe I’m so focused on Gubment Over Reach I miss some of the things they do that Maybe just Might be Good.

Government doesnt care about homeless, hell, look at the big cities. They promote it. Big G doesnt give a crap if camps are made on public land.

Just pay your fee (every day working class) and you will like it.

The issue is people no longer clean up after themselves, when we did these we didnt trash the area because we didnt want them to interupt the fun, today people just leave their cans, bottles and silo cups as garbage. If people picked up their trash this would not be an issue.
