Article states a confrontational encounter which is probably why the subject walked, at least for now. I worked in a psych ward for awhile back in my youth, and it was interesting watching several of the other employees get attacked by the same people who I never had an issue with. I had three murderers under my care,one killed a prostitute, 2 killed family members. No guns. Rage. The other four had interesting stories as well, though I’ll never forget Jimmy, who had ocd like you can’t believe. Drill Sergeant father, go figure. I also spent a couple years on the road, lot of time with the fellow homeless in San Francisco and the Cuban exiles in Miami. Young and dumb,but learned a lot about avoiding confrontation. Sometimes you need to out crazy the crazies, but generally a little respect goes a long way. ---

They remember my name and look forward to visiting me as a form of behavioral incentive. In the setting as described by news reports, I wouldn’t want to be involved, unless I have to. Let Mamdani’s social workers handle it. ---

Yes, I have also dealt with a lot of people that acted violent toward others, but never toward me. Give a person proper deference, but make clear that you are not to be f’d with, too. ---
