The author makes some good points, Don’t carry if you don’t train shot placement is always the key. Other then that he was a windy ass IMHO

During my competition days, our ammo had to meet major power factor of 180,000 based on your formula shown. That’s exactly why there were no 9mm’s participating. The came up with the .38 super to answer this. Until that time the .45 was the the gun used. As for the arguments about other ammunition, all I can say is blunt force trauma is, in my opinion only, as important if not more important than penetration. My opinion again. If I have to ever use my weapon in self defense at home or in public, I want the bullets energy exhausted in the intended target and not maintaining enough energy on exit to contribute to collateral damage.

Which is why I carry Hornady critical defense in my 9mms!

9mm ball is too fast and won’t deform or deflect in the bad guy…. Sure it’ll go through his clothes, him, the wall behind him, the neighbors dog, and probably the neighbor….

But you’re still just poking a hole through him unless all the terminal kinetics are expended in his body!

Shot placement is first and foremost, kinetic impact is a close second IMHO, then fragmentation and wound channels.

Most handgun rounds barely expand or fragment.

And while yes I carry 9mm, concealed, if the SHTF I will die with a .45 in my hand!

Same here, well stocked in .45ACP ammo for my two 1911s.

I don’t know where this guy came from with this BS article and obviously had never been in law enforcement or keep up with modern .45 cal pistols or ammo. My F/N 45 Tactical holds just as much as your crappy 9mm. The destructive cavity caused by jacked hollow point at supersonic speed would cause more damage than the 9mm, and this is fact, firing into ballistic body gel. I’ll take your 9mm in the shoulder any day over my supersonic 45 cal round to the shoulder. Do your research you moron!

He is the mystery man.

Strangely enough, the source: Red Dot Training Range out of PA.

If you want my humble opinion, yes, .45 does not have significant performance to justify lower capacity –ballistically, they are statistically the same, so more shots on target matter, especially if you have multiple assailants. 9mm is also cheaper and therefore you’re more likely to train more. .45 being what it is does not disqualify it, it’s just not better, so why would you?

Methinks they paid to have their post promoted by algorithm. Saw them on my feed too.

Your training in Pa? It doesn’t surprise me coming from a Democrat DEI run state! Get out the ballistic body gel and fire my supersonic JHP INTO IT VS YOUR PUNY 9mm. Look at the real damage and strangely enough you will see the difference! Enough said!

I don’t train in PA, the post was authored by someone else, not I. I’ve attended training here in Las Vegas, NV. for my CCW and then in Arizona at Gunsite Academy, where 45 ACP is “King”.

It appeared as your article but glad to hear you trained elsewhere. The .45 has been through 5 wars and conflicts and had always proven itself. My F/N tactical shoots great and it is equipped with night sights. We had Glock 9mm at first back in the 80s and found suspects were being shot 3 to 6 times and getting up to run off. First shooting with our .40 caliber Glock in a double tap and the suspect dropped like lead!

“Is 45ACP “a waste of space?”

No - but the author of the article is. If you want to promote the 9mm (cartridge?) for all of its perceived or otherwise positive attributes then fine but one is picking a fight with the wrong crowd when they/them try to diminish the positive attributes or question the relevance of the .45 ACP in the process. Not the hill to die on, IMO.
