Im curious now

I only shoot at our property. I shoot into a paper target stapled to plywood. Elevation is down hill into a drainage with a 30 foot natuaral bank as a back stop. No steel, just nature. Enough trees around to stop rounds. Poor mans rifle range if you will where its as safe as any gun range.

Was out shooting tonight and while the wife and I were policing brass, she just said bullet as we were walking back to the truck. I thought maybe i might have dropped a live round.

She said " no dumbass, bullet"

Sure as crap, this is what she saw.

Looks 9mm but i dont shoot into anything that could cause a ricochet. Just natural soft materials as a backstop. It was about 20 yards behind from where i normally shoot from.

Could have maybe hit a rock but it should be more deformed if thats what happend

Kinda stumped

Does that bullet match your ammo? Do you have neighbors that may also be shooting your direction?

Ever walk in the downrange area near your backstop wearing footwear with aggressive outsoles? From experience, I have found that my boots have outsoles that will readily pick up rocks, sticks, and spent brass of various calibers. Not out of the question to think your treads could’ve carried a bullet back that far before it fell out.

If you shoot a lot… It might happen one of your shots were flinched and bullet landed at 20 yards.
It looks like it hit a soft target, even the ground.

As long it’s your bullet, nothing weird here…

Could be my ammo. I generally shoot blaser when just getting trigger time. Just the location is weird but yes could be different reasons why.

I hope thats just it but with our trespassing problems, i guess ill never know.

Went to property to pick up the sxs to work on it. Wife went for hike. She found some stainless federal 9mm brass. Where she found i dont shoot. I have 1 area that i practice in and thats it. Might find a 450BM piece laying around from deer hunting but thats it.

Property is frustrating. We are 3/4’s mile off the road and still cant keep people off

Have you tried this?

Unfortunately, the number 1 requirement for trespassers is that they cant read. My signs do make good targets i guess.

Wife caught 2 guys taking apart one of our gates to gain access. They became very compliant when she got our shepherd out of the truck to confront them. I ironically, the hinge they were unbolting was just below the no tresspassing sign. In the past, they would just pull the gate out of the ground and drive over it. Guess im lucky on that one.

Couple years ago some folks moved here from California& bought some property.
They built their McMansion and put up, no trespassing signs around their property, every 50 feet .

Now it’s spring, and the ranchers want to open the headgates on the irrigation, ditches and send the ditch crew down to clear out any trees and obstructions.
The ranchers had to cut the lock off the gate and drive down an access road to get to the head gate

The, Californians are calling up the sheriff & reporting trespassers.

The ranchers have the rights, but these Californians are going to try to take them to court.

How about the regions or areas where all you have to do is paint the blue dot on your tree and that is considered marking your property line and that it’s posted no trespassing.
with the color code system you cannot claim to be illiterate. Just stupid that you didn’t know what the colored dots meant.

And Wyoming has cleared the way for corner hopping.
I just might have to get a Wyoming fishing license now that access has opened up.

I understand if someone has legal access to gain access.

We have powerlines going through the front of our property. I got the lease for the lines and they told me to treat it like its our land, they just need access to it. Cool.

Power company has our # to gain access our private road. It parallels the powerlines. Their access road is a ■■■■ show. Its so bad that it even tears up sxs’s. I dont mind opening it up if they need to get a boom truck in or whatever.

Hell, my phone # is on the sign at the gate.

We even gave our neighbors to the west a key since their property is landlocked. They dont abuse the privilege so no issues.

Its the pricks that think they can do what they want that makes me mad

Are you sure you cannot legally shoot them?

If any trespassers give you trouble, don’t bother calling 911 but remember to call 811 so you know where it’s safe to dig

Been teaching my daughter how to do that for years. Can only go down 8 foot but thats gonna have to do

8 feet is more than you need… :upside_down_face:
These days we don’t go deeper than 4.
Remember to sprinkle cayenne pepper on the top to keep wildlife out of the spot.

cadaver dogs can smell remains up to 15-feet underground.

You will need to dig an 8 foot hole and then dig a ramp down into the hole drive your machine down and dig down another 8ft.

Dispose add lime, backfill 8 feet , add dead horse, backfill
And plant a tree.

Ps
these dogs are able to detect the difference between human and animal remains.
So there is that…
