If you have purchased a .22 rifle, why did you buy it?

I have a 10/22 takedown with bull barrel. It’s a little tack driver. I bought it because I wanted something easy to take with me and just have some fun with. I put the 22 version of the acss reticle just because I wanted to and it’s a fun scope.

Atwoods had buy two get one free, $100 for 150 rds. 5.7 x 28 is getting a little less expensive. Have seen it $35 a box at other stores too.

Because a .50 BMG seemed a bit excessive for squirrel hunting…

I’ve seen some pretty big squirrels

Me, too. I have also seen the odds shift in the squirrels favor when a squirrel ran up a friends pants leg. I swear, I would have helped him if I hadn’t been laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes, which also ruled out taking the shot. Luckily for him, the varmint escaped without locating any “nuts”.

If I started posting pics of my .22 rifles we’d be here all day…. There’s at least 3 10/22s in one of my safes but I love all .22 rifles. At one point I was out to collect every model Mossberg made from the 30s-60s but I finally gave up and sold or gifted most of my collection. With all the variation it’s almost impossible to ever have the full set. But he’ll I put together 5 rifles out of a box of spare parts I found in my garage.

No other gun makes my pulse race like a nice vintage .22 rifle and I still buy just about all the classics in good condition I find.

That GSG MP5 clone someone posted above, I just gifted mine (pre HK lawsuit) with 6 mags to a good buddy of mine. Love the gun but I really had no use for it. Fun toy though.

Ruger 10/22. I would consider it the gold standard. Are there other good guns? Yes, but I could only have one it would be a ten-twenty-two.

Ruger 10/22 is the Lego gun of the rim fire world. With a credit card, a few basic tools and YouTube the sky is the limit. You can turn the basic rifle into an ultra light field gun that will fit in a backpack as well as a heavy bench gun that will give Olympic level target rifles a run for their money. Your wallet is the limit. I have friends that have an easy 4 figures sunk into 10/22s, they are addictive.

I have a stainless factory gun that shoots dime sized groups with crappy Remington bulk ammo. A modified field gun with a long sporter match barrel and a beautiful field Black Walnut stock, and a special limited edition M-1 Carbine clone that has the prettiest wood figured stock I’ve ever seen on one of these guns.

I had a short-lived M-1 carbine phase and almost bought this at a gun show. But, it was so crowded, it gave me enough time to reconsider my options.

That looks like a neat toy! I’m going to try to find one to try out. Here’s the Ruger version. It was only out for a short run.

Yep. Looks even better in person. Once I saw it there was NO WAY it was staying on the rack. And the best part…. It was the last one the store had of this edition and my friend gave me a deal on it so he could clear it out. I’m lucky he was unboxing them one at a time and this one was the last! :sunglasses:
