I am having problems target shooting on my land with my neighbor calling the cops i have a back drop i really need help on what i should do next

@Jared50 Welcome to the community! There’s a lot of factors that fall in here. Is the property within city limits (no discharging of firearms), is the property out in the country (out of the city limits) check the county ordinance, is the property back drop facing a residence behind it (big concern) What have the LEO informed you of if they’ve come to you about the complaint. Please share this information with us to better give some input. how long have you been target shooting on your property. Are you new in the area, is your neighbor new in the area (AN ANTI-GUN ACTIVIST 
) 
Give us something to go by, rather than second guessing advise. You do want to know what you should do next, have you been summoned for a court hearing, were you issued a citation. Community awaits a response.

Did you meet certain conditions like distance between dwellings, roads, etc.? And did cops say you’re in compliance?
I recall a similar situation where a gun owner first reached out to the local sheriff for guidance.

A lot of what you can do is know what you can do legally. As for the neighbors is understanding what their concerns are, then you can regulate whether you can address it or not. The details are the key to solving any problems.

Don’t change anything, since your post indicates that this has happened several times, I am assuming the cops arrived and determined you were within compliance of your local laws? My suggestion would be to play host to the officers and always have either Iced Tea or Lemonade on hand when they arrive. Then I would also provide them an open invitation to use your shooting range. If your shooting range is in compliance with local laws the police will tire of coming to your property and eventually start telling your neighbor that they need to suck it up or move.

If we go “food route” I’d suggest to have a lot of doughnuts handy… even ask your wife (if you have one) to bake fresh doughnuts every morning… and of course don’t forget about fresh coffee.

Invite the cops to try out your Babies all the Law Enforcement i know Love to Shoot and check out your Toys so shear offer them to take some Shots you might make some New Brothers an pals Here’s ya a Root Beer

I would shoot twice as much, just to maybe desensitize your neighbor, but then again I have been informed that my people skills may be lacking.
But on the serious side, maybe purchasing a suppressor for your weapons might be a good idea. Between that and maybe subsonic rounds, your butt-hurt neighbor might not even know that you are shooting.

Welcome to the Community. My first question is what did the LEO’s say?
You are either legally allowed to shoot or not.
If legal, how much do you care what the neighbor thinks.
If it were illegal you would know by now!
Have a talk with the neighbor and see if you can work it out.
If the neighbor won’t cooperate we are back to “how much do you care about what the neighbor thinks”?
Keep it low key and friendly if possible!
