Sir, what is an “Assault Weapon”, please explain. ATF: aaah! Sir, ONCE AGAIN, WHAT IS AN “ASSAULT WEAPON”, EXPLAIN PLEASE! ATF: aaah!
They are not a type of gun. Assault weapons are weapons that are presently used in an assault or have been used in an assault. This is not rocket science people.
A hammer is an assault weapon for cryin’ out loud.
Paul Pelosi knows first hand.
its hammer time
I’d love to have this pouring out of cars these days instead of all of the woman hating music we’re subjected to at every gas station.
Leo,
I think you just gave Paul (Peelosi) PTSD right now ! Excellent dude!. Now let’s take nancy’s vodka away and see what we get!
But then, when the police are involved they call it…
Dozens of police and fire vehicles were gathered along West Peachtree Street, as officers with assault-style rifles, helmets and vests continued to arrive more than an hour after the shooting.
Well Mike,
They are TRAINED to run toward the gun fire! Some just take the Scenic Route I guess…
And don’t forget rocks, sticks, and logs!
And those forever evil BUTTER KNIVES!
A hammer is an assault weapon for cryin’ out loud.
I make the same argument. If I hit someone with a rock, I’ll be charged with assault, which makes it an assault rock.
I’ve been corrected on this a few times, though. The word “assault” can be used in the legal sense, but it’s also a tactical term. An infantry unit might assault an objective. That’s what the term “assault weapon” or “assault rifle” should allude to. (See Sturmgewehr 44.)
Of course, that doesn’t make those phrases any less subjective. Rifles and other weapons have changed a lot over the years, and what specific features make a rifle a suitable weapon to perform an assault can vary depending on who you ask. And I doubt the anti-2A folks who scream about “assault weapons” haven’t a clue where the term came from, they just know it sounds scary.
