How many of these would you like to see enacted?

Here’s a wish list for you. I think Mr Root has the right of it when he says no politician has the guts to do it. See the article for further details. Top 10 listed under the link.

  1. Secure elections by using a paper ballot and a thumb print.
  2. End welfare for illegals
  3. Enforce the current law to E-verify workers and send management to jail for braking it.
  4. Bring back Reagan’s workfare.
  5. Term limits for all members of congress.
  6. Give lie detector test to all members of congress.
  7. Have a federal 3 strikes law
  8. Go back to thegold standard
  9. Get rid of income tax and the IRS
  10. Make a federal college loan program at 0% and tax deductible.

There is a lot to flesh out in this. My personal favorites:
Go back to the gold standard, stop welfare to illegals and 3 strikes. One I would like to add to the list is to bring back every American war fighter to the US with only a couple exceptions.

I have no problem with reasonable taxes, so long as they are good stewards of the money. Right now, we have the opposite. Always looking for more money, and services are abysmal.

Plenty to talk about here. A smaller issue, but I’d sure like to see them fix driving. Actual training. Actual testing, and not just once. Actual enforcement, including ditching going after speeders who are driving safely and instead going after being doing dangerous things. This would lower insurance costs, etc.

#2 sounded great until it got to the illegals.
End illegals, end welfare!
#11 death penalty should be carried out immediately!
#12 if you burn down your state you should be tarred and feathered!
What’s the penalty for treason?

A big problem with taxes is that once it gets enacted it never goes away and only increases in how much you have to send in. Initially our gubment was set up to be paid for by import/export taxes not income tax. FDR’s New Deal created a bunch of the taxes and mess we currently have to live with. Some of it was good and most of it wasn’t, MOO. There was a Tea Party over a 0.25% tax on tea remember. Many Americans send in 30+% of their earnings every year.

As you said: as long as they are good stewards of the money which currently they aren’t.

PS…we should also have something similar to the Star Trek prime directive. If it’s doesn’t involve us, we stay the hell out of it.

fortunately or unfortunately, I’ve spent most of my career in the “improvement” business, and you’ve hit the nail on the head. Groups (companies, government, families, whatever) always add, but never retire/sunset things. This is one of the big hopes of DOGE. Clean up the crap in one big swoop, then put governance in place so that we never maintain more crap. We’ll see. My friends who have high paying stupid jobs all hate me when I tell them that ~95% of any system is waste…nearly always true.

Did you see? Vivek is running for Ohio governor? Dismantling DOGE already.

First you would have to get rid of the firmly in-placed National Democratic Socialist Party indoctrination system, good luck with that.

We wouldn’t have to get rid of them we would just have to turn them in a positive, optimistic direction . How? You might ask. Compassionately.

The reality of givernment is that it runs on printed money, not taxes. The current annual deficit runs around $2 trilliion. That’s money that was printed and not paid for by taxes.

#12: Constitutional carry Nationwide.

This is in our bill of rights and CANNOT be infringed upon, but yet there are states that requires a licence to carry on your person or in your vehicle. They have turned our right into a privilege and profit from it from fees tacked on.

Welcome to our community Mike. You’re absolutely correct, there are states not only infringing upon this most basic right, but states like NY and California are stomping it into dust.

It’s incredibly long and difficult to get a license, they make random lists of normal, common firearm features that will land you in prison for years, they limit what you can carry to only what they say, and make it functionally impossible to actually carry by pretty much only allowing it on sidewalks and public streets, but not even then if the street or sidewalk is part of a park, or near a school, of whatever limitation they can impose to make you a criminal.

Then, on top of that, anyone visiting from out of state has their rights completely stripped, with absolutely zero recourse.

If the right to vote were even 10% as infringed as the right to keep and bear arms there would be marching in the streets, court cases left and right, public outcry and more. The founders saw the right to keep and bear arms as so important, they listed it second just behind speech, religion and assembly (to protect those rights) yet it is so trampled that many Americans don’t even know why we have it anymore. What a disgrace.

Anyway, Welcome aboard!

Federal 3 strikes law?

Why, so that you (legal gun owner) go to prison for 25 years after gifting a shotgun to your son (another legal gun owner) who lives in another state, and you didn’t go through the federal government to do it? Well I guess in this case that would be your first felony/strike.

For poops and grins discussion, another strike was modifying the exhaust on your V8 muscle car and you did away with the cat converters because they didn’t match up with your new headers.

You can make up whatever third strike of silliness you think matches the pattern.

Why do we want to make up a way for the federal government to imprison people for a very long time over many things that shouldn’t even be illegal? That’s going backwards. How many other California-specials do we want to take federal?

For reference, here is an overview of the three strikes law source, California

How it works

  • A felony conviction counts as a “strike”
  • A defendant with two or more strikes is a “third striker”
  • A third striker faces a mandatory 25 years to life in prison
  • Third strikers are not eligible for time off for good behavior or working
  • Third strikers may be eligible for parole after serving the minimum sentence, but parole is not guaranteed
