That is questionable with each individual. An their perspective on what they want to do, there is so many shooting sports and one rifle or pistol an shotgun seems to be the bare minimum but always room for a few more

I agree. I categorize my firearms. There are some I specifically use at the range, target practice. Then there are those I consider for personal carry. Some specially for home defense or when I’m in the mountains around bears.

Calibers define them for me.
.22LR - for fun. I know people who use rimfire for pest control but I don’t have that problem living within city limits.
Centerfire/all others - self-/home defense
What I need is add some flavor to my little collection. A western flavor to be more specific: a lever action and a revolver.

Luke 12:15: Jesus warns against the idolatry of hoarding possessions and earthly security: “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
Personally I might consider I have enough weapons when I have as many as our armed forces.
“A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”
To me, this signifies as much as the other potentially possesses. Seems reasonable.

A toolbox consists of different tools to do different jobs. If you have more than one 10 mm wrenches you are just prepared because they are a well-used wrench size. A gun is no different. I plinker is for plinking and a self-defense gun is a self-defense gun. A home defense gun is a whole different gun than a self-defense gun. A shot gun for duck or turkey hunting is designed just for such activities. A hunting rifle is designed for the type of game you are hunting.
So, just like your toolbox, you need the specific gun for a specific job so a multiple number of guns should be obtained to be used in a multiple number of uses for each purpose.
