A person once said that we should have more important posts than just Memes! I agree, we need practical knowledge that will make our lives more prepared for emergencies as such.

Do you carry a tourniquet on your person along with your EDC? I suspect the answer is overwhelmingly “No”, I have one in the car or with my jump out bag or in my desk where I work. I suggest an everyday carry tourniquet that will actually fit in a pocket, designed similar to the CAT. Got several through Snakestaff Systems. Take a peak…

Yes…Amazon carries a slick elastic/velcro ankle holster for less than $20. You won’t even know it is there. Not recommended for use with Bermuda shorts.

I have three of them. One in the car with my get home bag. One in my range bag and one in my first aid kit. I practice putting them on about every other month. I have used my belt when I was in the Marine Corps for a tourniquet for a hasty tourniquet when a Marine got shot in the arm with a M-60 round. There wasn’t much holding his arm together. Never did find out what became of him, but I am sure it wasn’t good.

I have traditional tourniquets in our vehicles and my range bag but always have this in the cargo pocket of my pants or shorts:

As well as being an effective tourniquet it can also be used as a compression bandage or ankle wrap, etc.

I have both a tourniquet and several Israeli emergency bandages in my range bag (and other places). I wonder how many people know when it is appropriate to use each one? A tourniquet can do damage if used incorrectly or for too long. I believe the Israeli bandage would be a better choice in a lot of situations.
