Horse Theft in Florida, out of control

Another Thank you for our open boarder. More and more horses being stolen and never seen again here in Florida. Three in the last few days in Okeechobee and another one on the east coast.
Wondering if old western laws still stand for horse thieves?

Wow, that’s horrible. For most horse owners I know, they’re as much part of the family as kids and dogs. Can you imagine the anguish of your horse gone and you have no idea what happened to him, or where he ended up? Sold, butchered, neglected…

The horse thieves better be careful. Horse people usually have rifles and backhoes.

A Sheriff on the news is saying these horses are most likely being slaughtered for the meat. Three months ago an under cover group took video of a man killing and slaughtering a retired race horse and selling the meat.

Just watched The Eiger Sanction.
I like how Clint Eastwood’s character “took care” of Miles Mellough

In the old west a horse was more than transportation. It was possibly a mans only means of making a living. Horse thieves were shot on sight. If they were caught they were hung.

Have you seen the price of rope these days
Lead is way cheaper and not as racist as rope :exclamation:
IIRC, horse theft in Florida, still on the books, IS death by hanging!
Florida, what a country!

True Scott, Lead is cheaper. But hanging is not as messy.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::crazy_face:
