Hong Kong Protests

Thank you @Michael7… I’m just a guy who caught luck one day (probably next day I was born) and would never let it go :upside_down_face:
I love to live… or I should say God let me live… I survived my birth complication, I got drowned and survived, I survived surgery with internal bleeding, I survived school suspension (almost got arrested), I survived Communism… And now I enjoy every single moment in this beautiful Country. :v::us:
I thank God for the day I got here !
That is my FREEDOM !!!

They really put us to shame. They fight against tyranny armed with only rocks and sticks, while we in America who have far more means at our disposal, cower in fear of even raising a finger to throw off our oppressors.

They had 99 years to move, they all knew the country belonged to China.
I’m not terribly sympathetic, it IS China’s.

David I respect your opinion but I question how you can take the side if a socialist, communist government that represses freedom.

It’s just not our business to tell another country how to run.
What if the UN said no-one should have firearms and everyone outside said oh guns are bad and people in the US shouldn’t be able to have them.
We are not the worlds policemen especially on, lacking a better word, social matters.

The world we live in is divided into two major ideologies; one that supports freedom and personal choice and one that seeks total control of every individual. America has stood for freedom, at least we did before this sudden lurch toward socialism that we are currently experiencing. Do we turn our backs on these people who are looking to us for support? They aren’t afraid to wave the American Flag, or to put up likenesses of the Statue of Liberty, but apparently in our current sad state of affairs we are. The choice is simple, freedom or socialist/ communism. Should the other side win we will not be expressing our opinions on sites like this. As for me, I choose freedom and the responsibility to preserve and expand it ar all costs.

I agree we are not the world’s policemen, however there’s a better word… I’m going with the essential right of human beings to protect their own lives and the lives of their children.
It’s not all about different cultures.

^^ I think @Michael7 is right on about the irony in that.

I think IT IS. It is our business to tell other government that they violate people’s freedom.
Government should rule the country based of people’s wish. I know it is not possible, regime or communism is not a system of freedom. People rule this system will do everything to avoid changes. They have power, money, they don’t care about citizens… they don’t give a sh**. (I’m sorry for this, but that’s a less vulgar expression I can use).
I knew all these from inside… I remember every moment when I was waiting for any sign of Freedom which could come from Western Europe…
Hope is not enough to fight for Freedom… Help from others is needed… I’m not talking about war, or making conflicts… They want to see that we carry about them, that other Countries know what is going on there… Eventually Communist Government will fall down if people will continue to fight, knowing they are not alone. Communism is weak, created by crazy man and managed by crazy people.

Unless they are older the 99 years, they had their WHOLE life to move this wasn’t a surprise.
This would be like feeding people in Ethiopia you can’t grow food in sand, don’t feed them give them a bus ticket! MOVE

All I know is I don’t want to spend MY TAX DOLLARS protecting or helping people that had their WHOLE lives to do something about it and didn’t. This is just like welfare recipients’ that are to lazy to work. No-one said lives fair, you should have packed your bags and left.

I turn my backs on people that don’t help themselves. You live in China (yes they do) and you had you whole life to move, unless your over 99. You should have packed up moved.
Don’t live in a country you don’t like.
It’s like illegal coming into our country and wanted to use “their” laws, no GTFO!

Personally, I agree with @David235 on this one:

If we tell someone else how to live their lives, they have every right to tell us how to live ours.

(Playing devil’s advocate) Should we (the US as a country) be supporting the rioters in another country when we cannot figure out our issues at home? Should we (the US as a country) be condemning another government’s actions when our government is acting the way it is?

I 100% support human rights and if I knew the state where I live was going to be turned over to a socialist country on XYZ date, you’d better believe I’d be moving to a different state before that date.

If it’s our business to tell another government how to govern, then it’s their business how we govern. How many republics are out there vs socialist countries? Does the majority win?

(Devil’s advocate again) If we don’t want people telling us how to run our lives, should we be telling others how to run theirs?
I am not endorsing human rights violations or barbaric treatment of anyone. These questions are meant to get you thinking about the big picture and strengthen or change your views for yourself.

Webster by David
Human rights violations is when people don’t have a choice they had a choice. If you want to be tied up and whipped by your wife in the bedroom that is not a human rights violation.

I think Britain needs to come clean up their mess!

My “opinion” though…

It isn’t about telling people how to live their lives, unless you’re telling them it’s to bad if you have a suppressive government, you should leave your home and family and go somewhere else. That’s pure BS! Apparently there are Americans who no longer feel that freedom is a good thing. God help us.

If by “move” you mean emigrate to another country… not always possible. Half the team that works for me are here on work visas, every one of them is working on becoming an American citizen, every one of them had been working on it for years before coming here. Every one of them has family and friends who have not been successful in getting here.

“Should have moved”, when it involves leaving your own country, is easy to say, not so easy to do.

No-one said life was fair, it’s simply not our problem, we CLEARLY have enough problems to fix in our own country. Not my tax dollars…
