These are my babies with upgrades:
My view on home defense shotguns is simple if it was not designed to put food on your table it’s not worth home defense. I will probably get sh!t on for this opinion but if you cannot put food on your table with a tool, it’s not the right tool. There are a ton of firearm companies that are making big dollars selling products that will provide the same results that a $300 shotgun will provide and that $300 shotgun can put food on your table. A tactical shotgun is only useful for people entering a home they are not familiar with the layout of and are doing a sweep and clear. You are on the defense, you know the layout of your home and you know the areas where the invader will have the least amount of coverage and be exposed the most. If someone is in your house, you don’t want to go looking for them, you call 911 and then wait for them to be in a position where they are most exposed and you have the most coverage. Again you know your home and ideally the person entering illegally knows nothing about your floor plan.
That was a good one brother
Why wouldn’t any firearm not be capable of putting food on your table? I guess if some tweeker makes his way in and kills you you won’t be there to eat it anyhow aye?
Is your 1st name Hannibal?
Not giving you Sh!t, just not understanding. Can you not put food on the table using ANY shotgun, or is the point you are trying to make that you don’t need a “tricked out” shotgun for home defense?
Have had my Mossberg 500 for about 40 years. Don’t see a reason to change.
I love my KSG-NR for home defense. It’s tactical and works well with shorties. 14 rounds. Built in light and handle. Amazing bullpup
What I didn’t like about the KSG was the shells eject on my wrist and actually cut and bruised me!

Edit: not that I would give two ![]()
about that minor collateral damage in an actual fight,… but it is a consideration nonetheless.
Edit edit; post script (aka PS)
I only got 5 rounds off in the GIF loop here,…
My kid does better in my next post
While definitely heavier,… I like my DP-12!
14 rounds of 2.75 00 buckshot and the casings don’t try to slice my wrist!

Edit; that’s my 18yo son shooting 8 rounds in the cycle of the GIF
Yeah I have never been harmed by my KSG-NR and only use shorties in it. I shoot both sides.
Put a slug in a shotgun and there’s no reason not to be able to put venison on a table . I’ve just never heard anyone say that a sg with a 16” or 18” barrel is only good for indoor sweeping.
You guys are too fancy for me but I respect what you have. I have had my Mossberg 500 for 40 years.
The short barrel length would make it pretty much impossible to take down any kind of fowl or small game, it would be a terrible tool for hunting and you would be wasting your ammo.
Duh - All you have to do is get closer ![]()
Have you ever hunted in your life? Prey animals dont let you get right up on them, if it were effective hunters would use them.
Gee, ya think? ![]()
They are great shot guns and should be good nuff for anyone IMO .
I didn’t say buy one for hunting I said it can and will do the job, unless the one behind it can do theirs which I’m wondering about .
