I didn’t think Hegseth would have a yellow brick road to skip into the job he wants and was asked about by the president elect to have in his immediate cabinet but there was some shuffling this morning that Heg was gonna bug out on his own terms and then the talking heads was saying that the PE was having second thoughts and was talking to DeSantis about who knows but ya know you can only imagine considering the timing. Anyway I like them both a lot but if I had to call the shots I think I’d pick DeSantis just because he’s a little older and is a big military guy also and I heard he was a Green Beret and maybe a navy SEAL, but in short I myself would rather have Ron DeSantis because I’ve been a fan of his for years
So it’s just my personal favorite that’s all no more than that. Wadda y’all think ?
Good choice, either.
Completely agree with DeSantis, but at this point I’d rather have Hegseth. Washington is doing the “Potomac Two-Step” of character assassination…and I would like to see that stopped. If they succeed again, they will do the same thing to all candidates that are not RINOs.
IMHO.
Well DeSantis sure ain’t a RHINO he’s true and true, either will do but young people are a bit headstrong and older ones think twice and act once, but like we both said either will be better than what we have now X 10
Either would be good, but DeSantis would be better.
BUT, I don’t want to lose my amazing freedom-loving Florida governor. Yes, I’m being selfish, but a lot of us feel that way. Best governor in the country.
Time for the winners to pick the rest of their team. The other guys lost, have no position to make selections for our team. Then again, the Republicans love circular firing squads.
@Robin29 ,I can see how you feel that way but he could turn it down , someone asked him back when he dropped out of the race if he would accept the vice slot and he said no, but a lot has happened since then.
@Mike164 , yea that’s always puzzled me or pizzed me off actually is the republican friggin gentelmen party. When the Democrats get into the crap they pull together and stick together but the republicans let themselves get kicked in the face and run scared and when the Democrats loose their power someone will ask a republican if they are gonna do to the Dems what the Dems did to them and they would say “ Oh we don’t want to stoop that low or get in the mud with those people and I’d get so dam mad and I called them the coward party for a long time.
I agree about losing our governor. He is the best I’ve ever lived under, anywhere. Unfortunately, he’s going to term limit out in two years. I’m torn between seeing him leave for a national position, and what else he could do for Florida in the next two years. Having said all that, he would be a fantastic sec Def, and maybe Nunez is good. It would give us a chance to see what she can do before the next election, and she can’t be too far from Desantis’ policy beliefs, or he wouldn’t have picked her.
@Joseph488 ,yea when he does leave either in two months or two years Florida has to vote in another good conservative to take his place because if they have had him for years I’d hope he taught them to hell even Pam Bondi would have been a good governor. Good luck to us all ! Lol
Half the battle has already been won and that’s Trump getting in.
I dont want to give in to the swamp on Hegseth nomination.
There is nothing wrong with DeSantis for DefSec though
Both intact males, either works for me.
I think we need DeSantis in his current position. I hate the disgusting tactics being brought to bear against Hegseth and hope that they are defeated.
I suspect either would do very well. Apparently Joni Ernst is angling for that job herself, and I absolutely do not want her there. I think she’ll do well working with DOGE, and as long as she is kept where she’ll do good, I am willing to tolerate her.
If she torpedoes Hegseth, I hope she gets primaried hard.
Id rather see hegseth. As a former Marine, i want a secdef that has led troops in combat at a junior grade. Someone likes that understands.
Pete was also a never trumper 10 years ago, hes totally against woke and just wants the best military we can build. Hes also an outsider, big plus in my book.
I have no bad feelings against desantis, hes been great for florida, and did serve with the Seals but as a jag officer. Hes a politician basically. Nothing against him in my book but a politician should not lead our military.
Just my opinion of course.
@Joel106 , And a good opinion at that . If all makes sense to me. A JAG guy huh? Do they have to go through the SEAL training? If he passed that he’s tuff enuf but he could have been a lawyer for them . And of course a person in charge of the military must be a combat vet preferably, no doubt. I have issues with sending someone some where that you haven’t been yourself.
Im not sure what his role with the teams was.
I wasn’t a recon Marine but served with them in a support role, i did the same training, schools, etc but still not a recon Marine.
If Desantis becomes our next SecDef, i will not complain one bit, i just like the other guy better
I’m not sure what his role was in Iraq, but I do remember reading that DeSantis deployed to Iraq during the war there and received the Bronze Star. Again, not sure in what capacity, but his major role in the Navy was as a legal officer.
Agreed. Desantis would be a good backup, but like most commenters, I still like Hegseth. The fact that the swamp is reacting badly to this nomination makes me like him even more.
I’m the same way, the more they trash him the more I like him.
They haven’t figured out yet their tactics just expose their own fears of being exposed! There’s probably a lot of Depends being sold in DC right now, given the number of people pooping (family friendly word choice there ) their pants over the incoming cleaning crew.
So Hegseth made some mistakes more then a decade ago and his own mother called him out on it who hasn’t. Like it is said he who is innocent cast the first stone. Like every one has already said I’ll except either but I would rather see Hegseth get it.
I would like to see Pete get the job just to see the snow flakes melt.
