Have you ever shot your gun with your eyes closed?

Practicing shooting blindfolded is not about leaning how to shoot seeing nothing. That would be violation of main shooting safety rule - identify first, then decide - shoot or not.

When we establish good stance and aim with eyes closed, then the dot or iron sights are on target, we learn how to shoot by feeling, not by seeing. By eliminating the most important sense (vision) we make our coordination better, teaching body to align all parts automatically. Adding vision makes it even better, faster and easier.
This is very important in certain situations. Sometimes we must act fast and visual target confirmation should be the last part before breaking the shot. Most people align their body to the target after visual confirmation, meaning at least .25 - .30 seconds later. Doesn’t seem to be much… but once you face a threat even 0.1 second matters.

You hear the click of cocked hammer, you know what to do. No visual confirmation needed. At least for FBI Special Agents…

You are 100% correct. I just assumed it was general knowledge of shooting. I’ve been doing it for 50 years. Didn’t really know It was some kind of new idea? Kinda like walking blindfolded through your house and memorizing where everything is in case you have to walk through your house in the dark. It will definitely give you an, ā€œedgeā€, if you have to confront somebody breaking into your house, And you are away from the door or window where they are breaking in. Or you need to look outside for some reason, you don’t want to be in the spotlight. Yes, of course you should have a good flashlight. But, if you don’t have any idea where to point that flashlight, then you instantly become a target.
