Not to worry, Republicans have a good handle on things, and the Demoncrats are panicking as the year end nears, as they’re calling out their bluffs, surely, they’ll come to a compromise, just as long as the Republicans keep the stronghold going. We wanted our Country back and that’s why Trump was CHOSEN and he will get us back on track whether these people like it or not.

“I just got back from Asia where I met the Leaders of many Countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and others. It was a Great Honor to meet them but, more particularly, to see that America is respected again — RESPECTED LIKE NEVER BEFORE! Great Trade Deals were made, Long Term relationships now exist, and money is pouring into our Country because of Tariffs and, frankly, the Landslide Results of the 2024 Presidential Election. The one question that kept coming up, however, was how did the Democrats SHUT DOWN the United States of America, and why did the powerful Republicans allow them to do it? The fact is, in flying back, I thought a great deal about that question, WHY?
Majority Leader John Thune, and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, are doing a GREAT job, but the Democrats are Crazed Lunatics that have lost all sense of WISDOM and REALITY. It is a sick form of the now “legendary” Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) that only comes from losing too much. They want Trillions of Dollars to be taken from our Healthcare System and given to others, who are not deserving — People who have come into our Country illegally, many from prisons and mental institutions. This will hurt American citizens, and Republicans will not let it happen. It is now time for the Republicans to play their “TRUMP CARD,” and go for what is called the Nuclear Option — Get rid of the Filibuster, and get rid of it, NOW! Just a short while ago, the Democrats, while in power, fought for three years to do this, but were unable to pull it off because of Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona. Never have the Democrats fought so hard to do something because they knew the tremendous strength that terminating the Filibuster would give them. They want to substantially expand (PACK!) the United States Supreme Court, make Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico States (Thereby automatically picking up 4 Senate seats, many House seats, and at least 8 Electoral Votes!), and many other highly destructive things. Well, now WE are in power, and if we did what we should be doing, it would IMMEDIATELY end this ridiculous, Country destroying “SHUT DOWN.” If the Democrats ever came back into power, which would be made easier for them if the Republicans are not using the Great Strength and Policies made available to us by ending the Filibuster, the Democrats will exercise their rights, and it will be done in the first day they take office, regardless of whether or not we do it. In addition to all of the other things we would get, such as the best Judges, the best U.S. Attorneys, the best of everything, this was a concept from years ago of then President Barack Hussein Obama and former Majority Leader Harry Reid in order to take advantage of the Republicans. Now I want to do it in order to take advantage of the Democrats….”

If you actually want to have a real discussion about this (which I also doubt), while many of the facts he states are true, he is using them to draw the wrong conclusion. If you recall the BBB is a spending measure, which under senate rules only requires a majority vote, not the 60% vote to to create normal laws. So there was no coming together, no compromise, no negotiation and no normal govt functioning that took place in the BBB. Democrats were completely shut out. So to say that a debt limit continuing resolution is not the place to force a discussion on health care funding is not correct because it is the ONLY place to force that discussion. Raising the debt ceiling requires a 60% vote in the Senate under filibuster rules. Which is why Trump is now asking to end the filibuster rule.
Regarding the increased subsidies being temporary is also true. There are many many areas of spending that are “temporary” and have to be extended all the time and extensions are the typical norm. The increased ACA subsidies were temporarily put in place by the American Rescue Plan in 2021 – during covid. But they were made “permanent” by the Inflation Reduction Act – as permanent as most spending measures are. The Trump tax cuts from his 2016 term were also temporary. And when the BBB extended those massive tax cuts for the rich, republicans refused to acknowledge that they were expiring and being extended, but instead claimed they were actually cutting the deficit through the Medicaid cuts, and the tax cuts for the rich don’t count because were already part of the law. Can’t have it both ways. If extending the Trump tax cuts are the norm, then extending the ACA subsidies are also the norm.

And let’s not forget the real reason the House is not trying to solve the shutdown. If the house goes back into session, the new democrat congresswoeman must be sworn in and she is the deciding vote to release the Epstien files. So speaker Johnson (should I say Ms. Johnson?) can’t let that happen.
The Senate is in session and has been in session the whole time. Johnson shut down the house and sent all of the republicans home so there can’t be a vote on Epstien, but that also means there can’t be a vote to resolve the shutdown. Trump would rather starve kids than release the files.

It was a reconciliation bill and was done completely within the law and “normal” order. This makes the second portion of your statement, “no normal govt functioning that took place in the BBB”, false.
Elections have consequences. Your democrat party lost.
It is not correct, period. There is no scenario where holding the government and American people hostage to force the minority party’s demands into fruition is correct or appropriate. What you’re describing is what spoiled pre-teens do in an effort to get their way, which is no more appropriate than what the democrats are doing.
The appropriate time and place to negotiate bills is through appropriations, which requires an open government. This is what the clean, non-partisan CR would do, open the government so that bills, including those that would impact healthcare, can be proposed, negotiated, and voted on.
They weren’t made permanent, or “as permanent as most spending measures are”. They were temporary, expiring this year. That is legislation that the democrats wrote and passed. You cannot blame the Republicans for an expiration date created by the democrats.
This is absolutely false. Trump ran on and stated regularly through the campaign that one of the things he was going to do was for his previous tax cuts. No one denied that and certainly didn’t “refuse” to acknowledge it. It was literally one of his campaign promises. Also, it is a lie you and the democrats repeat often, that the tax cuts were only for the rich. All of the tax brackets were lowered less two, the 10% and the 35% brackets. Every other bracket was lowered.
