Giving firearms to sales man outside your home?

DO NOT DO NOT EVER PULL YOUR GUN OUT, AND GIVE IT TO A COMPLETE STRANGER!

I heard a knock on the door with 2 people with badges saying they’re from inspire trying to get me to sign up for them and away from AEP, I had a USCCA shirt on and they asked what it stood for, and I told them, and he said that their was another guy who pulled his gun out, handed it to him, and told him to hold it, and took a picture.

I was like wtf. Why would you pull your firearm and hand it to someone who you don’t even know? And I was looking at the guy and thinking to myself like why would you hold a random man’s gun you’re sales pitching too cause you don’t know where it came from, and now you have your fingerprints on it.

THINK GUYS THINK!

I can’t believe this even has to be said.

It doesn’t, to most people…

My first thought would be/was…is this guy trying to get me to hand my gun to him, so that he can ____?

That is…super weird and not a good idea for sure.

The sales men didn’t even ask to hold it, the dude just picked it out of his pocket and told the salesmen to hold it for him.

I am confused. Badges, or ID’s? They wanted to see your gun, or were telling you about someone who they let hold their gun? What is AEP?

Common sense is lost to some. For them, maybe get them one of these signs, I have one on my door and it saves me all kinds of hassle.

Ask me why I have a post-it note next to the No Soliciting sign :man_facepalming:t4:

AEP is an electric company and they’re from a company called Inspire where they try to get you to switch up your service and they had tags and everything showing they were from the company Inspire.

They asked what the USCCA was and I told them and they said that’s funny because somebody in the other apartments came out, pulled out their gun and asked him to hold it.

He asked me what guns I have, but I’m not going to pick them up and introduce them to a complete stranger I didn’t invite to my home.

So…you believe them? Ok…in that case I have a great opportunity for a sucker…er…intelligent guy like you. It’ll only cost you half of your life savings and I’m sure you’re smart enough to see the value in it.

Honestly I call BS for this whole post.

They showed a picture. So I’m assuming that it happened. Now am I going to be the sucker who pulls out his gun and starts showing him and handing it to him? No

I’m with @Erik10. Honestly who cares? And I am slightly offended that you would think we needed to be warned. Really!!!

I find the entire scenario bizarre. If they were from an electric company, or anyone else, why would someone hand them their firearm? Something very odd. I am not sure I would have even told them what USCCA stood for, and just told them to leave, then close the door. I would have then watched them to see what they did, then call the police, depending on their actions. Situational Awareness 101, listen to your gut.

Some people are stupid enough to do something like that without thinking.

That may be, but that is definitely not me, and questionable in this circumstance. I have no idea what the point of the conversation was, but it would definitely spike my “spidey” sense to high alert.

If the man in the apartment took a picture, how would they have that picture to show you? Major alarm bells deafing my hearing. Tell them to go away and close the door, then monitor them, and call police depending on their actions.

He had his buddy take the picture there were 2 of them.

Okay, seems real odd. How would one know where, when or who’s firearm? Sounds like a fishing expedition.
