Anyone have experience with this florida statute? I want to build a private gun range on my property and after calling my local sheriff they have no answers. I live on just over an acre and would like to build my shooting range on the corner of my property. Can i do it without any legal problems?
Welcome to the community. Glad to have you. When it comes to guns, I think safety first. I don’t know Florida statutes, but good luck.
Try checking your zoning. I’m zoned agriculture and you can do more than in a residential area.
So the regulation is 790.15 regarding private ranges. With that how is your property zoned? In Pasco if you less than 5 acres then its a hard no.
This is a zoning matter. Check with whatever agency is responsible. And your lawyer and insurance agent.
@Casey25 Welcome to the community! Great question, seems to be too small of acreage, but not sure. It’s best to check with you City/County planning and zoning. They may have your answer. Good luck! Let us know what you find out on you research!
Thanks for the response. Well the statute says a property over an acre which i technically have and as long as the discharging is not dont in an unsafe or negligent manner. Its basically upnto an officer to determine if its safe or not.
Its zoned residential low density. The statue says the property needs to be an acre or more and not done recklessly or negligently…so i will call JSO again and see if i can get more clarification. Thanks for reply
