Takes a cool head to see the angry guy with a gun is full of it.
Could have been a real mess!
An example of self restraint is me staying out of a couple or four conversations in these forums…lmao.
I try to exercise the same restraint. Sometimes I fail.
That is the great example of lack of situational awareness from pickup truck driver.
Why did he stop? There was enough space to drive around the Mercedes and get out from the scene.
Instead of that, he put himself and his wife in danger situation. That is something I do not understand.
Especially after the other driver got out with a gun!
Sure he had his own gun as well, which could’ve gotten real messy really fast.
Being strapped in the seat of a vehicle is the last place I want to be when engaged in a gunfight.
Realistically though, we don’t have the whole story and situation. Maybe there isn’t any actual way to go around the attackers car?
It’s also a fight or flight call,… so you try to jump the curb and drive off,… now you have no potential way to shoot back, while rager guy with a gun can open fire on your backside.
At the end of the day everyone kept their fingers off the trigger and got to live another day.
the driver of the pickup was also armed with a gun, which he kept hidden down between his legs as Slane approached, the video shows.
This is why I avoid confrontation and road rage incidents—“reasonably believing that using or threatening to use deadly force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm” to myself or my passenger, I would have already shot the approaching gun-toting road rager by the time he’s inside 5 yards.
I deliberately avoid situations that would cause me to call the USCCA.
The victims told police they had been driving behind Slane when he allegedly brake-checked them and stopped his black Mercedes in the middle of the road.
The pair quickly drove around him in their white pick-up in a bid to avoid a confrontation, according to cops.
Slane, however, allegedly started tailing them to their gated community where he “aggressively” drove around them and brandished his handgun.
Cellphone video shot by the pickup’s passenger showed Slane jumping out of his Mercedes and storming towards the victims as he shouted and flung his arms about.
As he approached the driver’s side, Slane could be seen lunging into the open window in an apparent bid to grab the phone.
Police said Slane “struck” both the driver and victim amid the ordeal.
Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup was also armed with a gun, which he kept hidden down between his legs as Slane approached, the video shows.
At one point, the driver can be heard asking his passenger: “Should I shoot him?”
It wasn’t immediately clear if the pickup driver ever brandished his gun, or if Slane knew he was armed.
No shots were fired during the road rage saga, cops said.
Slane allegedly fled the scene just moments later but was later stopped and picked up by St. Lucie County Sheriff’s deputies.
Enough space to go around him and avoid a danger confrontation.
