Do you own a "Saturday Night Special?"

In other words, a cheap handgun.

None of mine cost as much as ammo, so yes, all of them.

I don’t consider any of my guns to be cheap.

RIA 38spcl. snubbie. $230.00 tax and fees. Rough on the outside, smooth on the inside. I use it as a “couch gun”, just sits in the side of the couch till I need it. :us:

I bought an old, somewhat beat up H&R .22 top break revolver a decade or so ago. Was made in the 1930s and was very well used. But with a little cleaning I was able to get it to shoot pretty well. Think it cost me $90 from a local shop.

Back in the 60’s my stepdad bought a 38 snub nose from a cop that patrolled where he worked, it was in the trunk of his car, one can only guess where he got it. The revolver and a sawed off shotgun cost 50 bucks. The shotgun is long gone, but when Dad passed Mom gave me the 38 to keep out of the wrong hands. It was interesting to disassemble, it’s even got a transfer bar safety. I personally wouldn’t shoot it on a bet, it’s just been sitting in one of my safes for years. The following is a write up on the manufacturer from the internet, it’s a model 39:

RG Industries (often known simply as “RG”) was the United States division of Röhm Gesellschaft, a German firearms manufacturer, who itself was meant to be a diversification for German tool manufacturer RÖHM GmbH to enter the gun industry. Both companies specialized in cheaply-made “Saturday night special” type guns.

Many firearms made by RG are notorious for their especially poor quality and reliability, even among already cheaply made “Saturday night specials” such as those made by the “Ring of Fire” manufacturers in the United States.

I have been picking up these H&R and Iver Johnson revolvers when the gun shows were worth going to. Would never pay over 50 to 60 bucks for them. I was always going to put them in a coffee table. But have some of them in a wall display. If someone will tell me how to post a picture I will.

No, and I never watch Saturday Night Live either.

Life is too short to buy cheap (junk) handguns, smoke cheap cigars and buy nothing but the best Bourbon.

Stay safe out there.

This is what I do with the old cheapos that I pick up. They will eventually be entombed in epoxy in a coffee table.

PS, thanks :shamrock:
