In one of my CCW classes there were several guys getting or renewing their permits to be armored car drivers. They had a shooting qualification program hat was different from the regular, but not by much. Based upon what I saw, I’ll take my chances with the bank robber. But I suspect the gun is there more for a deterrent than to ever be used.

What the armed security guard did was unprofessional. First of all I would like to mention that I also worked at an armed site in this state, Virginia. We do have arrest powers within the confines of the site we are employed by and that is it. We cannot arrest while of duty. On my security credentials it states armed endorsement. Some of these sites referred to in the original post hire people that have concealed carry permits and hire them to work armed on the site. They don’t even send them for training when they are hired. they just want a person who’s legally armed. So I am not surprised that that armed guard was unprofessional. Why else would he have his hand on his gun in an intimidating way. Untrained and unprofessional.

A very nice guy. Will drive tens of miles out of his way, just for waffles. And when he doesn’t get said waffles, is still a very nice guy.

He will be the next to snap a spring and shoot up the complex he is being paid to guard, because someone with out the right traing ignores his demands to not play with his toys.

It certainly crossed my mind. Some dope processing plant with somebody dressed like mall cop. On private property, most, but not all, states allow people associated with that property to be personally armed. And, of course, if it is a criminal outfit on site, they are already criminals and probably don’t mind shooting it out with law enforcement. The OP is rather lucky he didn’t get too confrontational with Mad Max otherwise both he and his partner might have disappeared never to be seen again.
