Dad allegedly killed man he mistakenly believed was kidnapping his daughter

Potential CCW class material here.

Instructors share bits and pieces of a story then ask, “would you intervene?”

What if your assumptions were wrong?

The situation unfolded at a Houston gas station, when a Honda SUV passed the father’s GMC at the pump. [The shooter’s wife] exited the GMC and chased the SUV, which appeared to accelerate into the road and speed away. Subsequently, the father stepped toward the road and allegedly raised a pistol and fired at the fleeing vehicle.

If I was expecting my kid to be dropped off, I certainly wouldn’t shoot at the vehicle I thought they were in!!!

Not sure if it’s a CA thing. I’ve been told: NO on shooting at a moving vehicle (well, unless Ms. No Good was using it as a weapon against you and you couldn’t safely get out of the way).

Also, one of the basics: Know your target.

Welp! I HAVE to agree 100% with you @Brad on this one…WTF? A woman leaves the GMC chases the vehicle on foot, ‘Father’ Dumbarse shoots @ a Fleeing vehicle (No idea who really is inside?) What prey tell if his ‘Daughter ‘ was inside?, What?

Oh forget it… No emoji’s laughing, all serious. THIS is everything NOT to do! and @BeanCounter good idea to make it a CCW ‘Learning’ tool!
Not to mention he didn’t turn himself in for (3) weeks huh?

Gonna be a Long time inside with a Playboy and a Hand towel for this goof.

I was hoping there’s a Texas twist to it but it’s not a clear-cut case of self-defense.

I described the incident with my wife. We have a daughter so we could relate to it. We both agreed both parents reacted terribly.

I’m trying to put myself in the dad’s shoes. Just wouldn’t fit, size 10D. :man_s_shoe:

I am finding fault with the storyteller here. My complaint about Newsie’s/Media supposed ‘Journalists’ these days is what I call ‘Half a story’. Especially out here in Cactus Junction is they rush to publish with minimal info. And then often when they add their ‘Leftist bias’s it can really skew the story in their favor (Not necessarily the TRUTH either). Renee NoGoode comes to mind instantly. ‘Poor Poor Renee shot for no reason’… right.

Short attention span :man_shrugging:t4: can’t be bothered after 256 characters including spaces.

Long-form (real) journalism is dead.

oh My God! You nailed it!, Write the story as long as a Meme or tweet because most people scroll by if it’s too long (too much trouble to think!). That’s prolly why my BRILLIANCE is overlooked! ARGH!

5th story: She wasn’t shot @ all! She was hit in the forehead with a ‘Penzy Pinky’ and knocked into the Rabbit hole where Peter Rabbit brought her to the Tea Party with Gavin Newsom, Tim Walz and Kamala Harris—a FATE worse than death! Drive Baby Drive! :sad_but_relieved_face:
