Cross draw CCW

Hey y’all, after much research and practice draws, it looks like I will benefit more from cross draw than the other CCW positions due to my degenerative bone disorder in my neck and shoulders. Anyone have any experiences with this form of draw? Holster recommendations? Currently looking at a CZ P10c, Canik TP9sf, or PSA Dagger Compact to use for this CCW technique. Much appreciated on advice and info.

Have you tried appendix inside the waistband (AIWB) using a good Kydex holster?

Problem with that is my bad shoulder and having to roll it high enough to draw. Cross draw just feels lighter on my arm movements.

It’s like so many things, if it works for you, then do it. When you look at all the options out there it becomes obvious to me that one size doesn’t fit all. You’re unique, be unique.

TNPhil,

I have similar spinal (cervical through lumbar) issues as well as arthritis in both shoulders, among other joints. I use an AIWB holster, to my left side between 10:00 & 11:00,. The key for me was to get a holster with adjustable cant which allows me to draw with minimal to no shoulder lift. If you can comfortably place your right hand near your left hip and follow your belt line slightly passed your centerline, you may be able to use a similar setup. I’ll post a link to the holster that I use (3 different firearms) in hopes that it may give you an option.

With all of that said, you should use whatever causes you the least discomfort, and I wish you well in finding your best solution.

It’s a shame we can’t open carry OWB cross draw like Angel Eyes in The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Sure does look comfortable :+1:

Edit: Wait, he has a pipe. Is that @Enzo_T with a revolver from his collection?

10 o’clock is what feels best. Looks like a great holster for my particular needs. And it has quite an extensive list of firearms to accommodate as well. How comfortable is it for you? Is it good when seated as well?

For me, it’s very comfortable and I do wear it during all waking hours, including when seated, in a vehicle etc.

The “fuzz lining” also keeps it very quiet while also not being a hard plastic (kydex) pressed against my abdomen. I had tried several other options before trying this one. Loved it enough to buy 3 for 3 different firearms.

I’m sorry, who says we can’t open carry crossdraw?!?!?!?

I proved that premise wrong this weekend!

Would love that… If only others around me would not mind it as well. Too many Karens nowadays…:pensive_face:

Crossdraw for me, a lefty with a Shield compact using a Muddy River Tactical leather holster IWB at 1 o’clock.
Adjustable cant is key, among a few other things.
Not the most comfortable but works for me.

Karen(s) don’t matter if open carry is legal, and it is in TN, either / or as YOU prefer w, or w/o a permit, open, or concealed the TN (CHP) Carry Handgun Permit does not specify open, or concealed; it’s either, as your choice.

Like some LEOs may have to carry their issued sidearm open, but may choose, and carry a (BUG) back up gun concealed, both.

When I shop at any store in TN, like a Walmart; I game how many open, or concealed carry guns I can spot. The number of either may be a lot of each.

In TN, so can you.

Unless they are tourist Karens, then they call the police.
I had one that moved from California to rural Nevada, that called the Sheriff complaining that a rooster was making too much noise at 0430.

I carry cross draw, much better if you’re driving, more discrete if you need to access your weapon without drawing any attention, just cross your arms and slip your hand under your shirt.

If the carrier is not misbehaving, like brandishing, or menacing anyone,

I have yet to see an LEO approach anyone open carrying.

I suppose they would with just cause.

But, I have not seen that yet in four-years, since TN enacted Permitless “Constitutional Carry” July 1. 2021.

They might check if you are a prohibited person and run an NCIC if there is a complete but, I don’t see them hashing you otherwise.

We have another member of this community who fell victim to a false complaint that he had to endure resolving in an other state.

But, after a while got that complaint dropped.

Under a thread title “A Cautionary Tale,” the other individual was charged with making a false report.

Greetings and welcome to the community, Michael.

Welcome to the community!
I find it easier to draw like that than anywhere from 8 to 11 o’clock (for a lefty).

Now, that Karen’s a real piece of work.
I live within city limits and get awakened by roosters :chicken:

I spent a lot of time time looking for adjustable cant holsters, and then I found this:

The belt clip adjusts through 360 degrees so you can get your holster to ride just where you like it.

Go to “clingerholsters.com” where you can get holsters with this clip ir just the ‘gear clip’ itself to mount on your existing holster.

PS: I’m not affilliated with this company in any way. I just like their products.
