I’m considering going back to an old favorite method.
I may start using a left hand IWB holster on my right side.
I can easily do the “bandit draw” with my right hand, and if my right hand is busy or incapacitated I can still easily cross draw with my left. This works well for hunters too. If you know there’s no time in a danger situation for your long arm, you can draw with either empty hand.
Of course carrying in ready condition is necessary. Where is my safety? Oh yeah… I left it way over there on the other side of the frame. Everyone excuse me just a few while I catch up with you. Don’t go on without me.
