Hi,
This question is somewhat specific. I work for a large private security company. My post is at a small maritime Port in Texas as a guard. My understanding is that the Port isn’t a government entity. However they are tied into the county somehow. The “Port” doesn’t allow the employees with the security company or their own employees to keep a hand gun in their vehicle. Yet they do allow tenants and visitors to check their firearms while they work or visit the Port. Past the gate is a 30.06 and 30.07 and in the parking lot there is a 30.06 sign. Firearms get checked at this point. Would I be breaking the law if I were to have my handgun locked in my vehicle while at work. I do not go beyond the 30.06 & 30.07 signs while in the parking lot. I would like to be able to have my handgun for travel between home and work for safety. Can the Port legally keep me from having my handgun locked in my vehicle in this situation? I would rather not give my name or county at this time.
Thank you,
