Chicago PD Officer shot with paintball gun

Thanks God no injuries.
Is it gonna be treated the same as use of deadly force?

Central Englewood is a tough tough neighborhood. There’s nothing to joke about there. Back in April ‘68 the neighborhood was up for grabs hundreds rioting in the streets of all of Englewood. I had the unfortunate situation of being there in the middle of the riot Central Englewood was a South Side war zone the day Dr Martin Luther King was killed in Memphis TN. Chicago was up for grabs and to be honest those days the police lost the city for a few days, I remember this very vividly. So a paintball is not much compared with switchblade knives and gunfire from real guns. Police are saints, Yes there’s some horrible, unscrupulous, zero integrity cops but the other 98% are good guys and women. Unfortunately in our society the majority always have to take incoming because of the minority no matter what it is.

In Kentucky it would not be treated the same as if a firearm was used. Here, the likely result would be assault 4th, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to 12 months in jail and criminal mischief 3rd a class b misdemeanor subject to up to 90 days in jail. If he was easily identified as a police officer. Then Assault goes to 3rd degree, a class D felony punishable by up to 5 years in prison.
