I was employed at a big casino near Joplin, MO. when the EF5 came thru. Being that we are a hotel & suffered no building damage, a lot of the out of state LEO’s stayed while on tornado duty. The casino required them to surrender their duty weapons while Resting/ sleeping at the hotel. A total BS policy IMO.
Why? Given the history of poloce violence and escalation they have become more dangerous then the criminals. This is no different then not carrying in a person’s home. Police have never been protectors and the Supreme Court has ruled as such.
One thing no one has touched yet is what the chief and mayor knowing about this policy indicate. It indicates the level of trust that these politicians have in their officers. This is the same story we have seen in this country over and over again, where the politicians dont support the police as they perform their duties as best they can, and help fan the flames of civil unrest. They throw the cops under the bus at the first chance they get. The police have become pawns to the liberal politician.
Lack of current events will give you the perspective you have. Look how the police did people during Katrina. Dod you not watch the documentary?
