After the republicans in the legislature made the author of the bill aware of what it really said, he pulled it from the floor. He said he did not realize the wording made it illegal to defend your self or others. At least one of the left leaner listened to reason.
When I saw this bill coming through I notified several friends and also looked up what the bill said. Also called CRPA (CA Rifle & Pistol Association) and let them know about it; not that they didn’t but information needs to be shared! Notified my representatives that I wasn’t pleased with what this might lead to, and urged my friends to do the same. The process is a little inconvenient but necessary. We all need to be on guard for similar threats to our constitutional rights and keep the pressure on! Thanks to all who stepped up!
If we take this person at their word, they are at least incompetant to write legislation for others, since they can’t understand the meaning of their own writing.
Well it is our meaning they need to understand. I don’t see how they can not understand their own meaning. Unless your meaning of understand is different than my meaning of understanding. You started it.
You’re assuming that he actually wrote the bill, or at least read it, rather than just putting his name on it because he was told to by someone “above” him.

You’re assuming that he actually wrote the bill,
The phrase “author of the bill” did lead me down that path.
Im sure he knew what was in that bill, problem was that concerned citizens actually read the bill also. Im sure he and his co sponsors were hoping this would slide in under the radar.
Good job to everyone that brought this to daylight
