Best cleaning kit for Shield EZ 380

To build on the theme … I use a bore snake dry to chase the barrel immediately after shooting at the range when the barrel is still warm then will do a full clean as soon as I get back home that includes rotating rods and #9.

That looks identical to the Otis kit noted above.

What a complete kit!

Which Vaultek did you get?

Will look up how a bore snake works. Thx.

I kike the KISS principle (and the rock group, but that’s different).

Anyway, I just keep one of those Glock nylon cleaning rods in my range bag with a couple 9mm/.357 bronze brushes, a zip lock of patches and a bottle of Hopees. When I’m done shooting I give the barrel (and revolver charge holes) a quick brush out, reholster my EDC and I’m out the door. The nice thing is all my handguns (except one) are .035-.037 (9mm/.380/.38 special .357 are all effectively the exact same diameter bore). If they’re really looking dirty I use the hopees and a couple patches. Every now and then at home I give a deeper cleaning and lube, usually when I’m doing the rifles, too, but honestly they don’t need much with any decent, clean FMJ ammo.

Hmm. I just checked for a second on the web and don’t see the Glock OEM rods, but they’re just like this and seem unbreakable. They’re nice because they have a thread for thr brush and a slot for a patch.

I tend to piece a kit together one item at a time, butI have different calibers as well, including .380. When I do not find a barrel cleaner that matches the barrel size, .38 special comes fairly close.

I noticed there are some .380 sized metal brushes on the market, so I think you should be able to find brush options.

I also like the strong swabs (which also come in .380):

Dude they are all the same size 9x19 380 is 9 x 15 I think convert them to standard measurements and .38 special , .357 mag all are .36 caliber , every cartridge I named is .36 cal. Having said that why .38 is actually a .36 cal is the unanswered question in the world of gundom , I have watched shows about it and read countless articles about it and no one can answer it unless I guess that it goes past the .5 in the measurement I. e. .36. 6 or 7 witch would normally knock it to the next higher caliber which would be .37 cal. See what I mean? It’s the unanswered question. Man what a muothfull

As a newbie, I’ve got so much to learn! Thankful that the membership is so available with advice.

:point_up_2: That’s the gem!

Use a bore snake or a nylon brush that fits any of those calibers for the barrel. Heck, even use a brass brush if you want to - if your barrel gets damaged by a brass brush, then just think about what a jacketed bullet is doing to it every time its fired.

All the rest of the cleaning kit and lubricants are the same for all calibers.

Keep the slide and frame rails cleaned and lubed. Also keep the feed ramp clean. Occasionally disassemble and clean your magazines if you shoot a lot - probably every 1,000 rounds or so.

After years of buying all kinds of cleaning “kits”, the stuff I personally use the most are a bore snake or nylon brush for the barrel, an old toothbrush and an old t-shirt for the rails and feed ramp. A light lubrication on the rails, re-assemble, and functional test without ammo.

For completeness, I do like to completely disassemble, clean, and light lube every single part periodically. But that is just because I enjoy it - I really don’t believe it is necessary unless you start experiencing malfunctions at the range.
