These manipulated and biased reports always intentionally forget to mention the large number of “children” they count who are 14 to 19 year old gang members who are killing each other and other innocent citizens.
If they really cared about protecting children they would be focusing on firearm safety education instead of putting all their effort into trying to disarm law abiding citizens.
That’s what makes us responsibly armed Americans among other things like training.

Better approach for safety is like anything hazardous, like your medications, keep out of reach of children.
There is a campaign specifically “To End Family Fire.” By using gun safes, the individual weapon(s) type that are portable, to keep small hands off your guns, and avoid unauthorized access that could result in the child shooting the gun without removing it from the house.
Part of your responsibility as a parent and a gun owner. Exercise your responsibility and keep the gun grabbers hands off your guns too.
Going back 40 years one of my best friends always said “Suicide is the sincerest form of self criticism.” He was an avid gun owner. However, when his wife left him, he closed the garage door, got in his jeep, fired it up, and bid us all goodbye. These left wing idiots fail to realize if you look at suicide, gun or no gun, nothing short eliminating this level of self criticism will prevent the act if the individual has given up. I find one thing interesting, when I was growing up in the 50’s and 60’s every house had guns, and in all that time not one of the kids in my school ever committed suicide. When I was growing up the schools taught hope and success. Today they don’t teach hope, they’re too busy focusing on every negative thing effecting the kids. No wonder the kids who buy into this negativity have these thoughts. It’s not guns, the fault lies with our educational system.

We’ve always trained our daughter for gun safety. If she sees a gun laying around she tells us, like we trained her. Hell, i go hunting and leave my rifle in the case in the mud room while i warm up and get cleaned up, she reminds me about the rifle.
Wife finally made up my mind to turn a room in the basement into a mini strong room. Its an old coal storge room from the 50’s. Not for my daughter, but at 14 shes gonna have friends over.
My daily carry is still in reach but if im not home its on me. Im not gonna be totally defenseless

They don’t teach kids to have hope or how to cope with any stressful situation, the immediate resolution is sending the kids to a psychiatrist to put them on medication that will ruin their lives for ever and in my opinion causes more depression. We were taught to deal with stress and go play tennis and go for a run to boost your self esteem.
Be around mental health professionals and discover their imperfect lives then consider they’re trusted to treat children and young adults. 
100%, I have experienced that first hand when my X starting taking our daughter to a nasty one to win custody in court, he made up all kinds of stories and convinced my daughter it’s ok to lie in court in order to achieve one’s goal.
I ended up handing the custody to the mom i court before the trial and to stop the BS, I truly wanted to break his knees, but didn’t do anything, a year later he was diagnosed with cancer and closed the practice, 4 years later my daughter came back and admitted she was wrong.

My father never said anything like that. He just expected us to be men. My mother recounted when he needed stitches in his hand and just had the doc stitch him up without any anesthetic. I recounted to her when I was scaping barnacles off the bottom of my father’s boat - I was about 12 - my hand slipped and a barnacle cut my hand all the way to the bone in the thumb pad on my palm, which to this day, I still have a scar.
