Ask an Attorney: Will my gun be confiscated after a self-defense incident?

I was waiting for the final blessing on something @Scotty and I just got it! I’ll add this to the What Would You Ask an Attorney post What would you ask an attorney? - and we’ll see if Tom Grieve will have the time to answer all of the questions that end up there

Only person I know who has a single gun is my mother and if it was taken…

It would be a race between my youngest brother and myself to buy her another gun…

@Scotty what happens to confiscated firearms is determined by law. Kentucky law requires almost all confiscated firearms be sold at auction to federally licensed firearms dealers. KRS 16.220(1) “Subject to the duty to return confiscated firearms to innocent owners pursuant to KRS 500.090, all firearms confiscated by the Department of Kentucky State Police and not retained for official use pursuant to KRS 500.090 shall be sold at public auction to federally licensed firearms dealers holding a license appropriate for the type of firearm sold.”

Thanks. However, this is her husband, Monte. Sue mostly FBs. I, meanwhile, am wordy on such wonderful sites as USCCA! We both are thrilled to be with this great organization. I was a Deputy for 10 years and a Volunteer Fireman/EMT for 14. While a Deputy, I was on the Department’s Pistol/Shotgun Team. Fun years, and all too many of them ago! Time to get back into the swing of things with USCCA!
