Are leather-backed IWB holsters sweat-inducing?

I’m considering a leather-backed holster from Crossbreed, but I’m wondering – won’t that big sheet of leather be sweat-inducing in the hot/humid seasons? Won’t it tend to bleed the leather dyes into my skin or clothing if it does get sweaty?

They do offer a “Comfort Backer” option on the holster without the ammo sidecar.

Does anyone have any experience with IWB leather holsters–especially the kind with a big-ish sheet of leather against the skin? Any advice? Thanks!

I’ve been carrying Muddy River Tactical leather IWB for years in CA and don’t have issues. But, what do I know? Ignorance is bliss.

I wear a crossbreed minituck and love it! I ordered the horsehide backer for my 365, but the one for my G43 is black cowhide.

I’m in Colorado, so not particularly humid here, and I’m not a particularly sweaty person, but I’ve never had an issue!

“Sweat” IS physically subjective. One person’s sweat is another person’s lubricant.

I alternate between these two holsters in southern Florida heat and humidity. They are both leather backed kydex hybrids. I don’t personally sweat more or less when I wear them. The only thing between me and the holster is the amount of coverage my underware provides

Edit: I will say I also have a Galco V-Hawk full leather IWB holster. The part that is against the body is smooth finished leather. With that one I wear a moisture wicking t-shirt between me and the holster - otherwise I sweat and/or the holster sticks to my skin. Other than that it is an awesome holster :+1:

I haven’t noticed difference between smooth or raw leather finish against my body. Both soak the sweat the same way.

If you sweat, nothing you can do to prevent leather from soaking. Just find something that separates leather from your skin.

I found simple trick to not have any sweating problems anymore - I use high-waist / high-rise underwear, that completely isolates my skin from holster.
Few friends of mine are using rubber / cloth pads that are permanently affixed to the back of holster.
